When i am running a select * on hr_pump_batch_lines (one of the tables in Oracle R12) i am getting "Out of Memory" Error. There is no other messages on the error window. I can continue working normally after this, it happens only when i query this table. I can see the data if i use F4 and goto Data tab. The table has only 50 rows in it. The error happens even if i add a where clause to it. I can query the table from SQL Developer. Why this is happening and is there a solution? I really dont want to jump back and forth in tools and i really like Toad. Create an account to join the discussion. Normally you would upload such a big script to the server via FTP/SFTP and then log in via SSH and then run the script with SQLPLUS. –bpgergo Sep 8 '14 at 12:43 If this script is an insert script that contains multiple insert statements and if it is not an option to upload the script to the server and log in via ssh and run the script with SQLPLUS then I suggest divide and conquer. Split the script into smaller parts in a text editor until you get parts small enough for the TOAD not to throw outofmemory. –bpgergo Sep 8 '14 at 12:46 okay, whether we can have any query to run this script file in toad?? –Wanna Coffee Sep 8 '14 at 12:49 1 committing may also help –bpgergo Sep 8 '14 at 12:57 1 Of course you can connect to a remote server using SQL*Plus. After all that's precisely what the tool was built for. You might ne

Solved Toad - Out of Memory error when printing results for a stored procedure Posted on 2011-05-12 Oracle Database 1 Verified Solution 3 Comments 3,295 Views Last Modified: 2013-12-12 Hello, I am trying to run a stored procedure in out of Toad and print the results in the output window to save as a text file. The procedure executes but gives me an "Out of Memory" error before finishing the print results portion. I tried spooling via SQL*Plus but the output doesn't look anything like it's supposed to. Please see my syntax below... --Original syntax... Executed in Toad but received a 'out of memory' error while printing results Variable Results refcursor; Execute db_name.p_GetHostMatchStage (:Results); Print Results; -- out of memory Executed in SQL*Plus using this syntax to spool the results but output is incorrect Spool c:\output.txt Variable Results refcursor; Execute db_name.p_GetHostMatchStage (:Results); Print Results; Spool off 0 Question by:cassie5643 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 16 Best Solution byMilleniumaire There are some Toad settings that control caching of returned rows, which, if very wide, can cause out of memory errors. Try reducing the cache parameter in Toad as follows: View -> Toad Options In the Options window, expand Oracle and click General. Try reducing OCI Array Buffer size and Max VARRAY size as this will reduce the amount of memory used by Toad. Mine are both set to 200 due to similar issues. 0 Message Author Comment by:cassie56432011-05-12 It progressed even farther thanks to that adjustment but still got the error. I went down as a far a 30 and a high as 500 just to be sure. I got a 'out of memory expanding memory stream' when I went down to 50 ad 30. Any additional suggestions? 0 Message Author Comment by:cassi
Toad out of memory [message #565133] Thu, 30 August 2012 15:35 wakula Messages: 150Registered: February 2008 Location: Poland Senior Member Hi, 2 questions: I'm fighting with a fairly large set of dynamic queries created by some developer (often SQL is over 2MB) accessing plenty of tables having something like 1000 columns... Formatting of such query takes ages in Toad while is pretty fast in Oracle SQL Developer... SQL developer is running plenty write operations in local app data directory... moving it onto a ram-drive didn't helped Any ideas how I could optimize Toad's formatter? I'm often accessing a small table which has 100 columns of type VARCHAR2(4000). The problem is that I cannot see the results of such query as Toad is throwing "out of memory" exception. How to deal with that? Thanks in advance Report message to a moderator Re: Toad out of memory [message #565160 is a reply to message #565133] Fri, 31 August 2012 02:13 Littlefoot Messages: 20842Registered: June 2005 Location: Croatia, Europe Senior MemberAccount Moderator Obvious solution (from my point of view) is to avoid TOAD in this case and use a formatting tool which seems to be working just fine (i.e. SQL Developer). Unfortunately, I wouldn't know how to force TOAD format 2MB files faster. Maybe guys at TOAD for Oracle community have a solution. P.S. How much RAM do you have? And you are right... I would probably create an ticket in Toad (we paid them several thousands $ for some reason, didn't we?). To the Black Swan... yes... we have created the mess ourselves and we should deal with that... this is our current long term plan Thanks for the replies.
