a 430 Kb Microsot Publisher document to the printer. However if I send only part of the document (20 out of 30 pages), it will print.I increased http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/61268 the size of the virtual (paging) memory to 20,000 meg but it doesn't help.Do I need to add memory (RAM) to the printer? Thanks. Respond to this 0 Anyone? by ricksaint on Mar 16, 2009 at 11:16am https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/405178-designjet-510-out-of-memory-data-loss-error Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 If you're just printing text, reduce the dpi setting in Control Panel to 300dpi. This will virtually quadruple the printer memory. You won't notice the difference in out of quality. by moe on Mar 16, 2009 at 11:18am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I found this on the HP web site: HP has a Windows Vista driver solution available for your product. This driver will enable your product's basic function to work."Basic function" ?! Does that mean the driver shouldn't be expected to give full functionality to the printer? by ricksaint on Mar 16, 2009 at 11:41am Add out of memory comment Please sign in to comment 0 I am printing a document with lots of graphics. I tried 300 dpi but it doesn't look good. by ricksaint on Mar 16, 2009 at 12:04pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I'm fighting this problem as well, just as I fought with 5L when it was connected to an xp box. I'm never going to buy another HP printer again.Seriously, if they don't want to support their old hardware, that's fine by me. But why would they pretend to support 5L in Vista, when they actually don't (as the drivers provided with vista don't work properly)? To me it's lying to customers. by unknown on May 16, 2009 at 9:09am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 You can add more memory to a 5L. There are a few modules available on eBay today. by Stephen on May 17, 2009 at 4:33am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Before you buy more memory, try using the HP6L printer driver on your HP5L, it comes on the XP disc - don't know about Vista though. You should be able to select it from within windows itself. I use it and it works even when using the highest 600 dpi resolution setting. Davi
THIS DISCUSSION Join the Community! Creating your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now Hi, I'm struggling with a plot that won't print. I'm using autocad and trying to plot to a HP Designjet 510. I installed a 256MB memory upgrade and still it's giving me the Out of Memory error every time I try to plot the drawing. Any help would be appreciated. Every time I've come across the "data loss error", that's solved the problem for me. 1 Datil OP Priscilla@HP Nov 7, 2013 at 11:29 UTC Brand Representative for HP Pieter, sorry to read that you are getting the infamous "out of memory - data loss error". HP has a support document entitled, "HP Designjet Printers - Out of Memory Problems" that describes causes of the problem and provides some solutions. Click here. However, I see a similar post on the HP Forum. The solution is the same that member George Baratta gave: "send as bitmap". As you will notice several responses indicate that the solution worked. Thanks very much George. Pieter, at your convenience, let us know if the issue has been resolved. 0 Sonora OP pjs12303 Nov 10, 2013 at 1:11 UTC The issue was resolved with the "send as bitmap" Thanx 0 Datil OP Priscilla@HP Nov 11, 2013 at 2:34 UTC Brand Representative for HP Pieter, thanks for returning to confirm that "send as bitmap" also worked for you.
