I am forced to kill both http://superuser.com/questions/536270/why-does-adobe-indesign-say-out-of-memory InDesign and Distiller with Task Manager. I am using "print booklet" with a document preset and a pdf preset. InDesign CS4 on Windows7 x64, i5 with 16gb RAM and 2gb GPU. I have a RAM meter, but the RAM meter never even reaches 1/4 (lots of RAM). Like I say, it works once, but locks up the second run. Did you run updates on it? –Bigbio2002 Jan 14 '13 at 23:36 I have, it's CS4. I don't remember having this problem with CS4 a month ago. –bgmCoder Jan 14 '13 at 23:41 Maybe it's a plugin or other addin. –Bigbio2002 Jan 15 '13 at 0:01 You're out of ram. –Frank Jun 1 '14 at 23:58 I suppose if the RAM meter ever maxed out (did you read my question?) Mac osX Expert: RoeIncarnate replied9 years ago. Ok, so the first thing to do is check that you have some free hard drive space on your root disk. Do this by going to the Finder and from the "Go" menu select "Computer". Then select your root hard drive/partition and select the menu "File->Get Info". Next to the line "Available" make sure there is some free out of memory space. If not, then you computer probably used it up with swap space (the OS will write some RAM memory to the hard drive when the RAM gets full). However sometimes the swap space takes up too much space. To fix this, delete some files or move them off the hard disk, then reboot (you need to make sure there is at least some free space before you reboot or else you can lose some preferences). If you have lots of free hard drive space, then you probably need to buy more memory for your computer. From the Apple menu select "About this Mac". How much memory does it say you have. If this is the answer to your question, please kindly select * ACCEPT * so I can be rewarded for my efforts. Ask Your Own Computer Question Customer: replied9 years ago. Reply to RoeIncarnate's Post: I HAVE CLEANED OUT MOST OF MY DOCUMENT FILES AND TRANSFERED THEM TO MY EXTERNAL HD....IT CLAIMS I HAVE OVER 83.22GB OF SPACE AVAILABLE AND 1GB OF MEMORY. Expert: RoeIncarnate replied9 years ago. If you have 83 GB, then you are probably not running out of swap space. This is good. 1GB of RAM should be enough since CS3 only needs 256MB (PowerPC) or 512MB (Intel). Have you checked the preferences to see if there is limit set on the memory it can use? The page has ~5 images on it and a couple lines of text. One image (the background image) is at 15% opacity ...all of the other images are 100%. All of the images are Grayscale. I have even deleted the image with transparency and it still won't finish. I am running with the most current version of InDesign and I'm working on a dual 2.5ghz G5 with 4 gigs of RAM. ...oh, and I can export to PDF just fine. Anyone know what is going on?
