It seems, SGA set to higher value then available SHM. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. Re: ORA-27102: out of memory Karan Kukreja Feb 24, 2012 9:30 AM (in response to Nikolay Ivankin) There was a shutdown on the server on the 12th of Feb. this Db was not shutdown that time. Today we got a call from cleitn that the Db is down, we tried to bring it up , we got the above error. We checked the SHMAX setting from the Linux team , the setting are as below: kernel.core_uses_pid = 1 kernel.shmall = 4194304 kernel.shmmax = 42962255872 kernel.shmmni = 4096 kernel.sem = 250 32000 100 128 fs.file-max = 65536 net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range = 1024 65000 net.core.rmem_default = 262144 net.core.rmem_max = 262144 net.core.wmem_default = 262144 net.core.wmem_max = 262144As per the note on oracle , it should be 4g or 50% of physical mem. This setting here is 40g. The current value s

and in the Oracle alert log ... Error : EINVAL creating segment of size linux-x86_64 error: 12: cannot allocate memory 0x000000009f000000 fix shm parameters in /etc/system or equivalent ... DON'T call Oracle. You're likely to experience one or all of the following... You ora-27102: out of memory svr4 error: 12: not enough space may be referred to Metalink Article 399895.1 and told to implement the workaround stated within. DON'T. This defeats the whole point of using projects as the workaround just changes things on a system wide basis instead https://community.oracle.com/thread/2353158 of resolving the actual project configuration issue. There's also no guarantee this method will work in later updates of Solaris 10 as the functionality has technically been obsoleted by projects. You may be told this is a known bug, Oracle bug ID 5237047 - Incorrect system requirements for Solaris 10, and is actually a bug in Solaris 10. You'll probably be told to implement the changes in the above Metalink document. As above: DON'T. https://lildude.co.uk/howto-fix-ora-27102-out-of-memory-error You may even be told this is a known limitation in Solaris 10 in that you can't have a shared memory segment of more than 6GB, and once again referred to the workaround in the above Metalink document. As above: DON'T. Believe it or not, I heard all three of these in one conference call this weekend and from what I can tell this is probably due to a complete misunderstanding of how projects work in Solaris 10 (ie a lack of knowledge) or due to some very bad documentation in Oracle's bug/call system. However, this post isn't all about what not to do, but rather how you go about resolving this issue. In short, you need to change the shared memory allocation for the particular project assigned to your Oracle user or group, depending on which you've chosen to implement. There is loads of information on setting up projects on docs.sun.com and Sunsolve, but if you're looking for information specific to Oracle and this error, then check out this post in Mandalika's scratchpad. It provides clear succinct and correct details on changing the shared memory settings needed to get your Oracle database/instance running. — Published 01 July 2008 Copyright © 2005 - 2016 Colin Seymour All rights reserved. If you need any more out of memory information, Please raise your hands in comment box i will provide you. oracle oracle10g sqlplus toad share|improve this question edited Dec 29 '15 at 4:38 asked Sep 8 '14 at 12:40 Wanna Coffee 1,66031736 This is not a programming question, probably will be closed. Normally you would upload such a big script to the server via FTP/SFTP and then log in via SSH and then run the script with SQLPLUS. –bpgergo Sep 8 '14 at 12:43 If this script is an insert script that contains multiple insert statements and if it is not an option to upload the script to the server and log in via ssh and run the script with SQLPLUS then I suggest divide and conquer. Split the script into smaller parts in a text editor until you get parts small enough for the TOAD not to throw outofmemory. –bpgergo Sep 8 '14 at 12:46 okay, whether we can have any query to run this script file in toad?? –Wanna Coffee Sep 8 '14 at 12:49 1 committing may also help –bpgergo Sep 8 '14 at 12:57 1 Of course you can connect to a remote server using SQL*Plus. After all that's precisely what the tool was built for. You might need to add that to your tnsnames.ora. –a_horse_with_no_name Sep 8 '14 at 14:44 | show 5 more comments 1 Answer 1 active olde
