Out Of Memory For Query Result Pgadmin
a minute: Sign up org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERROR: out of memory when storing 80MB blob up vote 1 down vote favorite I'm trying to insert an 80MB file into a bytea column and getting: org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERROR: out of memory Detail: Failed on request of size 87078404. The column is mapped as byte[]. @Column(name = "document_data") protected byte[] data; I'm wondering what is causing psycopg2 databaseerror out of memory for query result it an what should be the long term solution. Switch to lob/oid maybe? postgresql memory lob bytea share|improve this question asked Dec 14 '15 at 14:54 Ya. 552830 Please show us the code that runs the insert statement. Are you using a PreparedStatement? If yes how are you passing the actual blob data? When using PreparedStatement.setBinaryStream() I have no problem saving a 300MB file with a JVM that was started using -Xmx128m. –a_horse_with_no_name Dec 14 '15 at 15:10 I'm using a dropwizard application which in turn uses hibernate. I'm suspecting I'm running out of memory on the box. I'm monitoring as we speak and memory is very low: –Ya. Dec 14 '15 at 15:20 2 Based on the exception, the OOM error occurs on the client, not on the server. Please show us the code that does the actual insert. –a_horse_with_no_name Dec 14 '15 at 15:22 add a comment| active oldest votes Know someone who can answer? So when I'm going over a large result set in postgres, java seems to break. The query I'm running is trying to get around 5.5M rows. Basically I'm trying to populate a Neo4J database from a Postgres db. I won't bother posting the code unless someone asks as it's pretty generic I think. Here is the exception output: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space at java.lang.Class.getDeclaredFields0(Native Method) at java.lang.Class.privateGetDeclaredFields(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Class.getDeclaredField(Unknown Source) at java.util.concurrent.atomic.AtomicReferenceFieldUpdater$AtomicReferenceFieldUpdaterImpl.
Nagy Reply | Threaded Open this post in threaded view ♦ ♦ | Report Content as Inappropriate ♦ ♦ out of memory error on a delete command Hi all, I wonder what could cause such http://postgresql.nabble.com/out-of-memory-error-on-a-delete-command-td2168534.html an exception (see below). I was executing a "DELETE FROM table_name" command on a table with a lot of records (~ 80 million). Now after the fact I realize I should have tried it in psql too to see if it fails there too, but I truncated the tables in the meantime via "TRUNCATE". The only reason I tried to do it via delete is to see how many rows were deleted, out of but it looks like a bad idea... Any enlightening thoughts ? Cheers, Csaba.
