I just changed out the PSU on this computer. It should have plenty of power to run everything, and everything was working just fine before I http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-desktop/out-of-frequency-range-the-error-message-will-not/fcda4af3-20a6-4106-ada2-0d86a6892ad9?db=5 changed the PSU. No other hardware changes at all. So, now, I go put the computer back in, plug it in, and it starts to boot up, everything looks good. The 7 startup screen comes up, and then bam "out of frequency range." Now, mind you, I have two monitors. A 22 inch LCD, and a 15 inch LCD. The 22 inch http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/27186-63-when-boot-computer-frequency-range refuses to work AT all, and the 15 turns on, displays the boot screen, then the windows startup screen, then a floating out of range message. So, I tried rebooting in safe mode, same thing. I uninstalled my video card, and plugged the VGA LCD monitor right into the onboard, same damn thing. Any ideas? Check that and read some here if it apply to u too. The message is from the monitor itself, not from the computer. It is advising you that the monitor refresh rate or scan rate exceeds that which the monitor can handle. An interesting issue, since it happens while in the game, but it strongly suggests that either the CPU or the Video card is overheating and causing a reset which is defaulting to the non accepted video output. As games are both CPU and Video intensive it could be either that is causi

Remember, the monitor may have really died. JohnWill, Apr 30, 2008 #2 sdiako4tsg Thread Starter Joined: Apr 29, 2008 Messages: 43 It is a Gateway Desktop with integrated graphic Card. I ve used a different monitor, but the problem still persists. It gives the option to go on Safe Mode W/ or W/O command, but the screen comes up blank when you select any of these options( I mean nothing can be seen on the screen after u select the safe mode option). I can get into the Bios settings but I can t see any option for changing the graphic card. sdiako4tsg, Apr 30, 2008 #3 ~Candy~ Retired Administrator Joined: Jan 27, 2001 Messages: 103,706 Have you tried last good known configuration? Now it doesn't boot up/turn on at all. It sounds fairly normal attempting to boot up, however all I ot was these messages on my monitor saying "Error Frequency Out of Range" and it gave some numbers in Hertz. It now doesn't get even get that far; now the monitor stays black. The power light stays normal though. About two weeks ago I added a new mouse and upgraded my cpu - then this happend. I put my old cpu back in and it still does it. I can't start in safemode, nor enter the bios - the computer doesn't get that far! Thanks in advance for any help! 18-06-2007,12:43 PM #2 pctek View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Visit Homepage Senior Member Join Date Feb 2005 Location In the Wild West Posts 23,320 Re: Need Help: "Frequency out of Range" Its generally because your resolution or refresh rate is too high for the monitor to support. You should be able to boot in safe mode though. I'd be checking the graphics card/chip. 18-06-2007,12:45 PM #3 Speedy Gonzales View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Member Join Date Dec 2004 Location NZ Posts 44,425 Re: Need Help: "Frequency out of Range" That usually comes up when the refresh rate is too high. Not took sure how u can change it if the monitor doesnt come on. Unless there's an AUTO button or something on the front of the monitor. That can fix it. Try it on another if u have one handy and change the refresh rate. 18-06-2007,01:17 PM #4 beama View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Member Join Date Dec 2004 Location where eye patches are worn with pride Posts 1,709 Re: Need Help: "Frequency out of Range" is it a onboard video or a card are there any beeps on startup if so how many sounds like the video fault, that msg is when the refresh rate is to high for the monitor (as others have already s
