I've been editing on my laptop a huge file (about 176Mb) within QuarkXpress Passport 5.00r0 for a long time, and after the last session, where I added some JPEG pictures to the document, any time I try to open the document I get the error message 'Out of memory. [-108]' and a popup message on http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=519986 the system tray indicating that Windows is low on virtual memory and that it's going to increment it. I've already tried the following without success: ExecutedCHKDSK. Increased the size of the virtual memory file upto a minimum of 200MB. Defragmented the disk, including c:\pagefile.sys and c:\hiberfil.sys Used PC Inspector File Recovery 4.0 to find lost or deleted versions of the file and/or lost parts of it. Copied the file to another computer and opened it http://forum.sysinternals.com/out-of-memory-108-error_topic6249.html there with the same version of the program and also with later versions of Quark. I've viewed the file with a hex-editor and as far as I can see, it seems to be corrupted in some way, as, despite I can see and recognize parts of the text, it's'splitted' in small parts (separated with 'blank' portions in some cases, with non-sense characters in other cases); also, these parts are not sorted, thus extracting the text as it's viewedby the hex-editor doing a copy-paste is not a clear solution. Can anybody help me? Any idea or suggestion is welcome. Thanks in advance. This discussion is locked David Dobesh Level 1 (15 points) Q: Quark Memory Error (-108) Just recently https://discussions.apple.com/thread/148388?start=0&tstart=0 my Quark v.6.5 will not open due to "not enough memory -108". In https://groups.google.com/d/topic/comp.publish.prepress/18xfdjlWE7E the old days (Classic) I could adjust my memory through the "Get Info" window, no with OS X (Tiger), I can't adjust my memory, atleast not in anyway that I've found. I've quit all other applications and restarted and shut down several times. I went to the Quark site but all they talk out of about is Classic versions because, OSX supposably portions out the memory as needed. I've been Quark 6.5 for over a year now and this the first time I've gotten this problem. No other applications seem to be affected. Has anyone else had this problem, Help! If not, try to move ALL extensions in the Disabled Xtensions folder. Re-launch Quark. And, step by step, from Xtensions manager, re-activate one after another. Quit and re-launch. When Quark will enconter this error, the last Xtension is guilty.
