Out Of Memory Error Access 97
a new computer with WindowsXP as the operating system. I have installed Office97 Professional, which has worked with Windows95, 98, and ME. While Word and Excel work well I am unable to start Access and get an "Out of Memory" error. No other programmes are running. I understand that there are Access97/WindowsXP problems but cannot find this particular one. Any suggestions/help would be much appreciated Guest, Oct 5, 2005 #1 Advertisements Guest Guest Hi, Bruce. Does the new computer have more than 1 GB of RAM? If so, then your computer needs to have Jet 3.51 installed. For more information, please see the following Web page: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?id=161255 You may download this version of Jet from the following Web page, but you'll need to install MS Office 97 SR-2 first: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/172733/EN-US/ If you need MS Office 97 SR-2, then you may download it from the following Web page: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA010449951033.aspx Of course, MS Office 97 SR-2 needs to have SR-1 installed first, but your copy of Office 97 should already have that. 'Out of Memory' Access 'Out of Memory' New 20 May 2007 #1 Access97/2000 Guest Access 'Out of Memory' I have a problem with an MS Office 97 install on my HP Pavilion http://www.vistax64.com/vista-general/64712-access-out-memory.html dv6353cl running Windows Vista Home Premium. When I first tried to run Access I received a message that the file c:/windows/system32/system.mdw was missing. I copied the file from another computer also using Office 97 http://www.office-forums.com/threads/access-95-out-of-memory-with-windows-xp.353900/ and pasted it into the c:/windows/system32/ folder. I then rebooted the computer and tried again to run Access. This time I received an ‘out of memory’ message, however I had no other programs running out of and approximately 1.5 GB of memory available. I tried to uninstall and reinstall Office 97, however it would not uninstall after several attempts. How can I fix the ‘out of memory’ problem and/or otherwise get Access to run. I have also experienced this ‘out of memory’ problem with Access 97 using Windows XP Pro. My System Specs You need to have JavaScript enabled so that you can use this out of memory ... a new computer with Windows XP Professional and re-installed Office Processional 95. Access 95 will not launch and gets an error of "out of memory." Tried to reset the registry of "MaxBufferSize" for Jet 2.x, but it does not work. Need help! Thanks. Pietr, Jul 10, 2007 #1 Advertisements Larry Daugherty Guest It's more than likely because you have too much memory for Access 95. If you have Virtual PC you can create a virtual machine with an earlier OS than XP on it or even another XP machine but with less than 1G of memory in either case for Access 95. You can put an earlier version of Office Pro or just Access on that virtual machine. Virtual PC is supposed to be included free with the final release of Vista. I'm not running Vista so don't know if that's happened yet. If you have an earlier version of Access available, fire it up. If its Access 95 you can run from there. If it's later, you can convert the '95 mdbs to the later version. This is a bug in the version of Jet. In A97 it was fixed by one of the Jet 3.5 SPs.
