I run FS9 on Windows 7 and my PC spec is pretty good. Admittedly I have loads of added scenery (pay- & Freeware) but all has been running well until recently. Now when I start up, I get an error message which reads "YOUR COMPUTER HAS RUN OUT OF AVAILABLE MEMORY. FLIGHT SIMULATOR WILL NOW EXIT. YOU MAY NOT HAVE ENOUGH FREE SPACE ON YOUR HARD DRIVE. RUN DISK CLEANUP TO FREE UP SPACE, AND THEN TRY RUNNING FLIGHT SIMULATOR AGAIN." All very well but there is actually 402GB of free space available on that particular drive.!! When it first happened, I had my PC overhauled and the hard disk partitioned with just over 500GB allocated to the "D" drive where FS9 now resides. After re-installing FS9 and all my scenery etc, all run smoothly for some 3 m

I just completed the flight that I always receive http://forum.mutleyshangar.com/index.php?/topic/6649-fs2004-out-of-memory/ an OOM on descent.I use PMDG747, Ultimate Terrain USA v1.30 and the FSG Mesh patch; FSG mesh for the entire world, Ultimate Traffic at 85%, ActiveCamera. (I run ActiveSky and FSCommander on the Client PC using WideFS.)I out of have all the UT USA settings ON except Bridge and Tunnel Roads and Lights.Solution: boot using the /3GB switch, /userva=2900 (to allow my 8800 GT 512MB drivers to load), and then modify the FS9.exe to allow >2GB Address set.YEAH!!James Seadog Members Profile Send Private Message Find Members Posts Add to Buddy List Senior Member Joined: July-15-2005 Points: 176 Post Options Post Reply QuoteSeadog Report Post Thanks(0) QuoteReply Posted: January-06-2008 at 9:14pm That's out of memory quite an interesting development, James, as I'd been laboring under the impression that FS9 would, under any and all circumstances, never use more than 2GB of RAM. It's good to learn a new thing.Phil Taylor's blog has clearly set out how to modify boot.ini to add the 3GB capability. (His description is in the context of doing it for FSX, although it adds it for any 3GB aware application.)Nowhere have I seen how to modify the FS9.exe to make it 3GB aware. Could you kindly post the syntax and method required to make it so? Thanks for this interesting item.-Seadog NickN Members Profile Send Private Message Find Members Posts Add to Buddy List Certified Professional Joined: November-21-2007 Points: 16263 Post Options Post Reply QuoteNickN Report Post Thanks(0) QuoteReply Posted: January-06-2008 at 11:12pm Carefull with userva=2900 on that, ... http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1199566076 It may be OK with the 512 video card but if you upgrade to a 768+ you will probably need to drop that to 2560or the OS will run out of address space. Try reducing it to 2560 and if it remains stable leave it there. 2560 is a much safer value. _MSW_ Members Profile Send Private Message Find Members Posts Add to Buddy List Senior Member Joined: January-01-2005 Points: 299 Post

But there are a lot of feedback that it should also work with less RAM - you can try it out safely, more than a blue screen, it will not be, and the change can be made at any time easily reversed. Should also be installed Directx 9c, otherwise it may cause display errors. Nevertheless, and very clear: everyone tried here at your own risk! The conversion is done in two steps. Step one tells Windows XP to allocate more than 2GB of virtual memory available. Step Two tells the individual applications, as the request for more VM can provide the operating system without having this panic closes the "bag". One or the other will already have read about something, but I have not really come complete with instructions, especially not in German language. Step 1: Download the program "4GB patch" http://ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php Make a backup copy of the file fs9.exe Then open the downloaded fs9.exe the tool and patch. This tool is foolproof, and absolutely self-explanatory! The FS is now known that he may ask for more virtual memory and how to do it. Now you have Windows XP will need to know that such a request can come from programs and it should not be alarmed: Step 2: Give Windows XP with a "Run" sysdm.cpl and confirm with OK. Then cl
