But thanks for the input. Anyone else have any suggestions? sjm182, Jul 4, 2007 #3 lavazza Joined: May 15, 2006 Messages: 125 The 'registry key fix' is a rather blunt tool, so I'm not surprised you're reluctant... plus... it's for when the problem occurs when you run a large number of Windows-based programsClick to expand... I have a Lenovo laptop, about one year old, Vista Home Premium, and 2 GB of RAM. In the past 10 days a new problem has cropped up: When I am running MS Explorer, and viewing something like Facebook or a NYTimes magazine article (with even just 1-2 tabs open) it sometimes locks out of up, and after 30-60 seconds a small window opens saying "out of memory at line 56" and an OK radio button. As soon as I press the OK, the page reloads fine and that and the other tabs become unfrozen. I can see on my memory/cpu gadget that I have 40% or more of my physical memory open - I rarely run more than a few programs. I seem to out of memory have read on some random forum (after some less than productive googling) that it may be a problem with not enough memory allocated to Explorer. Which makes sense, since there is no shortage of actual RAM. But I can't relocate the forum I had stumbled upon and the recommended fix looked like one wrong move and I could really mess myself up. So i wen't looking for manufacturer's fixes, but I could find nothing on Microsoft's proprietary knoweldege base about an "out of memory at line X" message. And since it is not, per se, an error, MS is not geting any on-line notification of my frequent freezups and mounting annoyance. Anyone have similar problems, heard of this, know of fixes? I'm not a computer geek (ie: not very savvy, but willing to follow directions) but I am a genial and sometimes nerdy person. Thanks! I believe you click the start button and type memory in search. The memory tool should be highlighted, then click on that. Reports: · Posted 8 years ago Top ScottW Posts: 6609 This post has been repo
