Notepad++
(filename), line 34570: error 7. Since I have no idea how to number the lines and I am not planning to count 34570 lines, I can't realy link that specific line. Is anyone able to help me? When you find it you should delete the entire solid that's there. Hammer autosaves by default. There should be a few older versions of your map around somewhere. Also if you have a file with the extionsion .vmx, that's a backup. Rename it to .vmf and see if you can open it. cfoust View Public Profile Search User Find More Posts by cfoust Find Threads by cfoust 08-25-2009, 01:58 AM #3 zombie@computer Join Date: Aug 2008 Reputation: 426 Posts: 907 try this tool http://rvanhoorn.ruhosting.nl/files/vmffixer.zip If it doesnt work, id gladly recieve feedback (see readme) so i can improve the program zombie@computer View Public Profile Search User Find More Posts by zombie@computer Find Threads by zombie@computer 08-25-2009, 07:28 AM #4 alehm Join Date: May 2004 Reputation: 1403 Posts: 4,084 I had this error last week. I opened the file in notepad and went to that line number. At first I wasn't sure what I was looking for then noticed a solid's coordinates were all jacked up compared to the others around it. I deleted that whole section within the brackets, saved, and all was good. alehm View Public Profile Se

I tried opening the map in hammer again and BAM "Out of Memory loading solid" error and it displays the line in the .vmf file with an error.I checked on a few tutorials on how to fix this and it turns out you have to open the .vmf file in notepad and go to the line that the error displayed and delete not just the line, but all the lines that include the "Solid" code which the line belongs to. It would of been easy if it wasn't for one thing. The line displayed in the error was the last line and there was no code named "Solid" nearby, dafuq? I just deleted the code even though it wasn't named "Solid" and tried opening hammer again, now I got the same error jus
a error one of the lines. Thanks How do I fix this because I don't think I have another version, and I would lose about two hours of https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=427465 work. THANKS!! Reply 3rd October 2007 Post #2 Rich June 2005 4 Posts You should have another version. You may have a "mapname.vmx" file alongside the "mapname.vmf". Unsure if it'll help you at all, but http://forum.gamemaps.com/viewtopic.php?f=333&t=12377 that's what it renames your old VMF before you save it. This can be caused by either a BOG, excessive, ENOURMOUSLY HUGE map, or some error in the vmf structure of your mapfile which caused Hammer to go into a loop. Causes are using quotes or curly brackets (" or { } ) in entity names, values or outputs (mind: game_text), which will break your map's datastructure. Solution: you have three hopes: [list][*]A backup file out of memory (mapname.vmx) should be in the same directory as your mapfile, rename it to vmf to open it)[*]Hammer has autosaves (atleast if you have in enabled). You can try opening the autosaves, look under the Hammer options to find the autosave path[*]A long day trying to try to repair your map with Notepad. You can try three things: 1. If a line was reported, use Notepads goto line option to see if theres a problem on that line (end of file? weird characters?) 2. Search the mapfile for '.#INF'. If found, do a search&replace where you replace all instances of '.#INF' with '.00'. 3. Check if there are any {'s not closed with a }, or check for strange strings. Most often, adding one or more closing brackets ( } ) to the file fixes this error, but be prepared to have lost some, if not a lot of data on your map.
