Configuring Out-of-Order and Error Screens There are certain conditions that cause the Microsoft Surface software to display an error screen or an out-of-order screen: The Microsoft Surface unit encounters an

unrecoverable failure (both the error and out-of-order screens appear). Someone remotely logs on to the Microsoft Surface unit (the out-of-order screen appears). The Windows Vista logon screen is supposed to appear on first log on (instead, the out-of-order screen appears).Note If you plan to install localized applications on a Microsoft Surface unit, you should also provide localized out-of-order and error screens. For more information about how to provide these localized screens, see Deploying Localized Microsoft Surface Applications. The default error screen looks like the following illustration. The default out-of-order screen looks like the following illustration. Changing the Wording and Images in the Out-of-Order and Error Screens You can change the wording and images for the error and out-of-order screens. Like most of the other Microsoft Surface customization, you specify alternate error and out-of-order words and images in an XML file. This XML file is not included with Microsoft Surface units, so you must create a file named SurfaceOutOfOrder.xml and put it in the %ProgramData%\Microsoft\Surface\v1.0\ folder. If your XML file contains any schema problems or if there are any problems with the ima
What would make wireshark mark a segment as out-of-order? IP layer should re-order IP packets correctly and then give them to TCP, why could out-of-order occur? Does out-of-order always mean bad things? What should we do when we see network out of order bb10 out-of-order TCP segments, especially when there are lots of them. thank you! out-of-order asked

Or different IP frames take different routes (rather seldom). No, if https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee692287(v=surface.10).aspx it's not too many of them Figure out what causes them. Capture at the sender and the receiver side and compare the capture files. If that does not help, move along the path and take captures at different places (if possible - obviously a problem if the data path 'crosses' the internet). Make sure, the 'out-of-order' frames aren't just duplicated frames, by checking the IP ID (try to find duplicate IP IDs). From packet-tcp.c: https://ask.wireshark.org/questions/27662/how-to-understand-out-of-order-tcp-segments /* If the segment came <3ms since the segment with the highest * seen sequence number and it doesn't look like a retransmission * then it is an OUT-OF-ORDER segment. * (3ms is an arbitrary number) */ t=(pinfo->fd->abs_ts.secs-tcpd->fwd->nextseqtime.secs)*1000000000; t=t+(pinfo->fd->abs_ts.nsecs)-tcpd->fwd->nextseqtime.nsecs; if( t<3000000 && tcpd->fwd->nextseq != seq + seglen ) { if(!tcpd->ta) { tcp_analyze_get_acked_struct(pinfo->fd->num, seq, ack, TRUE, tcpd); } tcpd->ta->flags|=TCP_A_OUT_OF_ORDER; goto finished_checking_retransmission_type; } BTW: See also other questions with the tag: out-of-order http://ask.wireshark.org/tags/out-of-order/ Basically the same explanation as I gave above, just different (real world) examples ;-)) Regards Kurt link answered 02 Dec '13, 07:42 Kurt Knochner ♦ 24.4k●10●35●228 accept rate: 15% edited 02 Dec '13, 08:20 So IP doesn't have the responsibility to put the packets in a right order, does it? It is TCP's job, what if the application layer protocol doesn't use TCP? Who will put the packets in a right order? Application layer protocol? (04 Dec '13, 07:20) SteveZhou 1 So IP doesn't have the responsibility to put the packets in a right order No. The job of IP is just to route/transport the frames to the destination, regardless of packet order or the way/path it chooses. It is TCP's job, For TCP: Yes, it's TCP that will deliver data in the right order to the application, which will/can cause delays if you have a lot of o
what does it means ? of order tcp out asked 10 Jan '11, 23:54 ALMahbob 1●1●1●2 accept rate: 0% One Answer: oldestnewestmost voted 2 It simply means that https://ask.wireshark.org/questions/1698/tcp-out-of-order-what-does-it-means particular frame was received in a different order from which it was sent http://datawarehouse.ittoolbox.com/groups/technical-functional/abinitio-l/outoforder-record-found-error-529549 (after a later packet in the sequence). It is not generally a problem. It probably indicates there are multiple paths between source and destination - and one travels a through a longer path. It means TCP has slightly more work to reassemble segments in the correct order. link answered 11 Jan '11, out of 04:16 martyvis 891●1●5●25 accept rate: 7% Thank you a lot ,,, (11 Jan '11, 05:45) ALMahbob Your answer toggle preview community wiki Follow this questionBy Email:Once you sign in you will be able to subscribe for any updates hereBy RSS: Answers Answers and Comments Markdown Basics *italic* or _italic_ **bold** or __bold__ link:[text](http://url.com/ "Title") image?![alt text](/path/img.jpg "Title") numbered list: 1.
