I just changed out the PSU on this computer. It should have plenty of power to run everything, and frequency out of range windows 7 everything was working just fine before I changed the PSU. No other hardware changes at all. So, now, I go put the computer back in, plug it in, and it starts to boot up, everything looks good. The 7 out of range monitor error windows 7 startup screen comes up, and then bam "out of frequency range." Now, mind you, I have two monitors. A 22 inch LCD, and a 15 inch LCD. The 22 inch refuses to work AT all, and the 15 turns on, displays the boot screen, then the windows startup screen, then a floating out of range message. So, I tried rebooting in safe mode, same thing. I uninstalled my video card, and plugged the VGA LCD monitor right into the

Did u mess with the refresh rate? Check that and read some here if it apply to u too. The message is from the monitor itself, not from the computer. It is advising you that the monitor refresh rate or scan rate exceeds that which the monitor can handle. An interesting issue, since it happens while in the game, but it strongly suggests that either the CPU or the Video card is overheating and causing a reset which is defaulting to the non accepted video output. As games are both CPU and Video intensive it could be either that is causing the problem. http://forums.techguy.org/games/431913-solved-frequency... m 0 l HugoStiglitz 5 October 2011 11:34:06 As Nikorr said It is either your refresh rate or resolution is set to high for your monitor. you can press F8 at bios and select "Enable VGA Mode" from the list this will limit your resolution and refresh rate to very low settings. the good thing about VGA mode rather than safe mode is all other windows services are running so install / removing programs & drivers is easy. m 0 l Can't find your answer ? I will explain it again. The message states that the monitor is getting the wrong signal from the computer (refresh rate too high or scan rate too high). As this happens (according to your post) part way through a game, it indicates something is going wrong in the COMPUTER. Probably your video card is failing, perhaps overheating. kiwiguy, Jan 7, 2006 #4 loony_taz00 Joined: Mar 30, 2005 Messages: 547 Ya, If it was hte monitor itself then it

It will then shut off like when your computer is idling and goes to sleep mode or something. I have read a few posts about what the problem could be. Some have said its because the refresh rate isn't compatible with the computer or something but everyone is saying that I need to get to the desktop so i can go to my start button and change the refresh rate but it wont get that far, the screen just shuts down. Anyone have some suggestions? Update: The computer monitor does not come on so getting into anything is impossible. :/ Follow 3 answers 3 Report Abus

Right click your desktop and find edit your display options. I haven't used XP for awhile now so I have forgotten where everything is, you might need to go to your display settings and click advance options, the go to monitor and check your refresh rate.
