It boots normally, shows the Compaq splash screen, then the Windows 2000 Pro splash screen, then the screen goes blank and shortly I get a FREQUENCY OVER RANGE message on the screen...and then nothing and the system is frozen. I have to power down to reboot. The FREQUENCY OVER RANGE is not a Windows error message, rather it's a blue box in the center of the monitor with white block letters. This machine starts and runs normally in Safe Mode. Any suggestions? After it sat collecting dust for a few months I decided to play it again the other out of day. This time, however, my monitor displayed only a "Over Range" error and I could not play the game. What is wrong and how do I fix the problem? I've tried re-installing the game and everything. Please help. Also, I saw a CivIII expansion at Wal-Mart the other day. Is it worth the $$$ if I get the game working on my computer again? Thanks a bunchl. "Those of you who out of range think you know everything are annoying those of us who do." There is a line in the CIV3.INI file, "KeepRes=" that allows to "keep" the resolution (if set to 1) you have been using prior to launching Civ3. That might help, if your regular resolution is high enough. Also, did you do any changes to your computer setup since you last successfully played Civ3? New monitor? New videocard? Driver changes? As for the PtW - have a look in the "Play the World" forum, there you will find LOTS of material to think about... Jan 20, 2006 #1 slugonamission TS Rookie Posts: 29 the message is from your monitor, when it bails, your graphics card must send signals that your monitor cannot handle for the cause of the crash, go to control panel=>administrative tools=>event viewer and in all the three catagories, try to find red crosses around the time of the system crashes does the PC actually reboot (i.e. goes through POST etc) or just it just flick off? If all else fails, find a really kind mate, and borrow his graphics card for about a week and see if the problem still occours (H.V frequency out of range) Jan 20, 2006 #2 wachupin TS Rookie Topic Starter Ok, i've been looking for the errors but there are like lots of them so i dont actually know wich one is it, what should i tell you about it? category, origin, type?
