again!Come on BT do you really wan't customers to start thinking of defecting to the competition? Stop messin with my software please!Oh by the way i've got a 42" Panasonic G15 so it seems lots of different types of new sets have the same problem. The thing is though i've had the same set-up now for 3 months without a hitch so it must have been some kind of "update" which is having a problem.Good luck BT Visioners. I'd appreciate some help with this if anyone has any ideas. I have a Sharp 42XD1E TV with a BT Vision box connected to it by HDMI (on EXT6). In the Vision box "settings" I set the "screen aspect" to display 1080i rather than the default 4:3. This leads to some weird behaviour. When I first change the setting, it works fine, but many channels will from then on display in 4:3 format (i.e. there are big black bars down both sides of the screen). There are no settings I can change on the TV itself to change this. If this behaviour is correct then that's fine, but it seems odd to me. Sky Sports News (ch 83) is a good example, when the "screen aspect" is set to 4:3 (standard def) it fills the screen, but when switched to 1080i it changes to a 4:3 format. The second and potentially more serious issue is that when the TV is turned on and off again, or when I switch to a differant source at back to EXT6, often (but not always) the format will switch back to 4:3 and I get an orange bar displaying a message. It appears too briefly to read, but I think it's something about my TV being unable to support 1080i by HDMI? I don't understand this, as the TV is clearly capable, and it has been working fine for hours sometimes, I won't get the message until I swicth back to EXT6 from something else. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? The TV is otherwise fine (use X360 and PS3 on it) and BT Vision appears to be working ok. Auto-format is turned off for the TV. Changing between "full and underscan" has the effect you would expect (stretching the screen vertically but not horizontally).
