I have a TechGear 1394 Firewire card and connect from my PC to the DV port of the DVR-210. After a lot of trial and error, I found WinDV to send video to the DVR-210, and VirtualDub to convert from XviD to DV (using the Panasonic DV codec). I have used other programs to convert to DV, but the audio never came through when I tried to burn a DVD using the DVR-210. With VirtualDub, the audio comes through as well as the video. Currently running into the following problems: audio and video start out fine, but a minute or so into it, the audio is out of synch with the video. When I open the XviD AVI, VirtualDub does give me a message that Variable bitrate (VBR) detected, and I am using "Full processing mode" as recommended. From there you can convert without issue. Read my blog here. I did some research to try to understand what demux was. I understand the concept, but

mp3 compression to work directly in Virtualdub. I'm using version 1.4.7 and have installed LameCom.dll and LameACM.dll v090d, but get "Error initializing audio stream compression; The requested conversion is not possible." Any ideas? Head Hunter22nd http://forum.doom9.org/archive/index.php/t-11655.html December 2001, 05:56You have to make sure you select the right frequency. If the source is 44100 you must choose that. Click show all formats if the right rate isn't listed. Hope that helps. phaysonwulfe26th December 2001, 02:38Yes, I have manage to get it to work. I am using Window 2000, to get the Lame Codec to initial properly. You must also have the Professional version of Franhofer IIS MP3 Codec installed. You error initializing can get this additional codec from www.afterdawn.com. Also, the Franhofer Codec MUST be listed Before the Lame Codec in the Audio Compression Codecs list. This list can be found in Control Panel->Sounds and Multimedia->Hardware->Audio Codec Properties->Properties. I do not understand why it needs to be this way, I have tried several different ways to install the lame codec but this is the only way that works for me. It seems to work for me when the Radium(Franhofer) is installed either before or after Lame. However, after encoding with Lame, the file info says Franhofer IIS. I'm wondering if Vdub fails to initialize Lame and chooses the other MP3 codec. What does you r file info say about the audio codec? Karl Head Hunter2nd January 2002, 05:15It says Franhofer IIS because thats what is to decompress the audio. If you record an MP3 using the regular LAME program it still shows up that way in VirtualDub. chemmajik6th January 2002, 01:41In the beginning I got so tired of getting my radium mp3 pro codec mixed up with the mp3 windows one, so I deleted the windows default, solved my problems & radium is the default.
