To recover,BACKUP THAT DIRECTORY,then remove everything from it except for wallet.dat. what does this mean. Diapolo commented Dec 9, 2012 Are you sure the message was not telling: Error initializing http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/error-initializing-database-connection database environment C:\documents and settings\administrator\application data\bitcoin! To recover, BACKUP THAT DIRECTORY, then remove everything from it except for wallet.dat. Btw. please close the other double-post, thanks. Bitcoin member laanwj commented Dec 9, 2012 The error message can hardly be any clearer in what you need to do, can it? anand4 commented Dec 9, 2012 yes, this is what it is saying Error initializing database environment and settings\administrator\application data\bitcoin\database! To recover,BACKUP THAT https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/2083 DIRECTORY,then remove everything from it except for wallet.dat. timmc commented Apr 8, 2013 The message is clear enough, but it doesn't explain what happened. (For me, it was after migrating my stuff to a new machine and downloading and running the 64-bit bitcoin-qt 0.8.1.) I'd really rather not reinitialize my blockchain, so a hint as to what has happened would be great. ETA: I found more info here: If you were running on Linux with a version that might have been compiled with a different version of Berkeley DB (for example, if you were using an Ubuntu PPA version), then run the old version again with the -detachdb argument and shut it down; if you do not, then the new version will not be able to read the database files and will exit with an error. laanwj closed this Nov 7, 2013 Sign up for free to join this conversation on GitHub. The Media Library will not display anything but that message, and after a moment, error initializing Winamp closes. The problem occured when I was ripping an album, and my computer shut down. On startup, I saw my CPU temp was at 122 (a little high). I had also just finished updating to Firefox 1.5.0.1. Not sure if any of that is relevent. quewoulderniedo View Public Profile Find More Posts by error initializing database quewoulderniedo 2nd February 2006, 01:34 #2 quewoulderniedo Member Join Date: May 2005 Posts: 67 . quewoulderniedo View Public Profile Find More Posts by quewoulderniedo 2nd February 2006, 10:05 #3 siebe83 Forum King Join Date: Feb 2004 Posts: 9,224 Your problem may be caused by a corrupt Media Library database. Try deleting the file main.dat in C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins\ml while Winamp is closed. This will clear the ML database: all ratings/playcounts will be lost. Tips on backing up ratings can be found here. If that doesn't help, delete the entire folder ml and if that doesn't help, also the file gen_ml.ini (both in C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins). All views and playlists in the ML will be deleted. If you want you can backup the ML playlists. They are in the ml folder and are called plf****.m3u. Just copy them to another location. If you don't want to lose data again in the future: winamp.ini, studio.xnf, gen_ml.ini, reg entries, backups etc http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=158332 http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadi
