I've clicked on video>compression xvid mpeg-4 codec, then, audio> compression ac3 acm codec - or mpeg-3 codec, it doesn't matter..I always get this error when I click on capture> capture video: "Error initializing audio stream compression: The audio codec cannot compress the source to the desired format. Check that the sampling rate and number of channels in the source is compatible with the selected compressed audio format". In capture mode, there's no menu for changing sampling rate. Any idea? Thanks. Capture uncompressed or lightly compressed (HuffYUV) first, compress later. And I installed HuffYUV, but it's not in the VirtualDub audio compression list. But it's ok, I'll try to capture uncompressed.. hope i have space in my HDD. It's a lossless codec, which is probably why jagabo suggested using it - it won't have to take as much t

When I enter in Audio / Compression dialog, I can choose only DivX WMA http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/306523-VirtualDub-The-audio-codec-cannot-compress-the-source-to-the-desired Audio 1 or 2 as encoder.LAME MP3 ACM & Fraunhofer ACM codecs don't display any available audio format, except if I check Show all formats. But, in that case, if I choose let say 128 kbps and go to File / Save, I get error message: Code: javascript:void(0); [nonactive]Error initializing audio stream compression:
The audio codec cannot compress the source audio to the http://www.ac3filter.net/forum/index.php?topic=598.0 desired format.
Check that the sampling rate and number of channels in the source is compatible with the selected compressed audio format. If I choose DivX WMA Audio 2, maximal bitrate is 64 kbps. Also, resulting audio is not coded with Dolby Pro Logic II.Well, I can use BeSweet & Azid decoder for conversion to MP3 and it works very well, but I want to use VirtualDub & AC3Filter. Logged valex Administrator Active user Posts: 598 Problem with AC3 ACM codec « Reply #1 on: August 08, 2007, 10:07:42 PM » This happens because input format is multi-channel and VirtualDub thinks that encoder also must support multichannel format. MP3 encoder says that it cannot handle so much channels, therefore VirtualDub shows empty list.Currently, AC3Filter cannot do sample rate conversion. Therefore output format must have the same sample rate as input. So, if check 'Show all formats' and have 48000Hz AC3 track you must select only 48kHz compression formats. At least, I have it work good in this way...Also, you can explicitly say that you decode AC3 to stereo. Just select Audio->Conversion in VirtualDub menu
– note that this only happens on a very few files, and these always have – in File Information – an audio stream compression value https://www.moviecodec.com/audio-codecs/virtualdub-lying-about-codecs-6472/ of “Unknown (tag 0055)”. Trying to make a WAV out of these files always gives:- “Error initializing audio stream decompression: The requested conversion is not possible. Check to make sure you have the required codec.” Now, I’ve used both AVICODEC and GSPOT, both of which tell me the AVI files have a perfectly valid MPEG-1 Layer-3 audio encoding, and GSPOT error initializing even tells me that I have four valid codecs installed to read this…except VirtualDub doesn’t suss this. It’s 2 channel, not 5, so not that AC3 problem, and although I can use AVI2WAV to get a wave file, it is horribly unsynchronised with the video (presumably because the original is sampled at 48kHz and AVI2WAV keeps this, whilst VirtualDub lets one error initializing audio change it to 44.1KHz). As I say, this only occurs on a very few .AVIs, but it’s really annoying that this is happening…why does VirtualDub not recognise the codec, when AVICODEC and GSPOT do? What can I do about it? 04-11-2005 07:45 AMCraigJohnson install this ant it will work ..hehe http://www.free-codecs.com/MPEG_Layer_3_Codec_download.htm this is l3codecx.exe 02-18-2007 08:28 PMangel_of_serenity Feedback Related Post Your Answer TopicYour replyYour name or log inVerify you're humanBy submitting this form you agree to our posting rules, privacy policy and our disclaimer.
