I don't even have to https://forums.adobe.com/thread/872748 create/open a Flash file. I already reinstalled, but to no avail. Any suggestions? flash share|improve this question edited Jun 16 '12 at 13:32 Ryan♦ 125k20239287 asked Sep 10 '10 at 16:18 stevenvh 1,51652441 Why the vote to close? –stevenvh Nov 7 '10 at 18:25 thanks for posting, it applies to cs6 too! –user115422 Jan 27 '13 at 11:10 @fermionoid - I don't have the problem in CS6, but then I have to say that I http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3686352/error-initializing-java-runtime-environment-you-may-need-to-reinstall-flash also switched from Windows XP to 7. Maybe that has something to do with it as well. –stevenvh Jan 28 '13 at 8:21 hmm really? I'm actually on windows 7-64bit... –user115422 Feb 4 '13 at 23:37 @fermioniod - There seem to be several factors involved, so same OS version and same CS version don't guarantee anything. I posted this 2 and a half years ago and haven't found a definite solution, neither here, nor elsewhere on the 'Net. One often recommended solution is to reinstall JRE (didn't work for me). Adobe remains silent. :-( –stevenvh Feb 6 '13 at 9:40 | show 2 more comments 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote I also got this when I launched Flash CS5 and found that it was due to recent JAVA upgrade. Fortunately, I backed up my HD files using Time Machine and went back and found an earlier preference file. Here's what I did. On the Mac I replaced the JAVA Preference version 13.6.0 with an earlier version of 13.5.0 located at: local_HD/Applications/Utilities/Java Preferences After replacing this file, the error message went away. I'm using a MacBookPro and OS 10.6.8. share|improve this answer edited Nov 14 '12 at 12:05 j0k 17.4k114960 answered Aug 16 '11 at 1:03 Woodstock 212 add a comment| Did you find this question interesting? Facebook 0 Google+ 0 Email -- Filament.io 0 Flares × I just got this message this morning while launching Flash CS5.5. Everything was fine yesterday, nothing http://blog.open-design.be/2012/11/13/error-initializing-java-runtime-environment-you-may-need-to-reinstall-flash/ happened between the shutdown of my computer and the re-launching of it this https://plus.google.com/+IainLobb/posts/6okXuntv2JS morning. Nothing but… I'm currently working on a heavy project that made me change the memory allocated to the Java Virtual Machine. 128mo are allocated by default. I already had to change it to 256, yesterday I put it to 512. All of this happens in a tiny file called jvm.ini. Everything error initializing worked fine after that modification. I even had to reboot Flash CS5.5. My project was compiling, I was happy. Now, all of the sudden, I get this strange error: "Error initializing Java Runtime Environment. You may need to reinstall Flash." Never had it before. I may need to reinstall flash ? before getting to that, I checked on google and came across quite a lot of error initializing java articles about it. The one that helped me solve this annoying problem is this one: http://program-wait4it-ming.blogspot.be/2012/06/error-initializing-java-runtime.html The interesting part is about the jvm.ini file. The one that I modified the day before. I changed the value from 512 to 384. And all of the sudden, flash is working fine again. So, here are the steps I would check before you copy, delete, re-install anything: check your jvm.ini file. It is located in your "C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Adobe\Flash CS5.5\en_US\Configuration\ActionScript 3.0″ directory (Windows Vista) And change the value of the -Xmx property to a lower value (128 should be a minimum): "-Xmx128m" check your java installation. If it's up-to-date or if there are any conflicts between different versions. check this solution: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash/kb/error-error-initializing-java-runtime.html check this weird administrator solution here: http://program-wait4it-ming.blogspot.be/2012/06/error-initializing-java-runtime.html think about re installing flash… but I would still be very cautious about it. Hope it helped 0 Flares Twitter 0 Facebook 0 Google+ 0 Email -- Filament.io 0 Flares × Comments: 4 Posted by: Thomas Categories: flash, Strange/Bugs, usefull Tags: environment, error java, flash, java runtime environment, jvm.ini, memory, runtime 4 Comments bukkelchen May 29, 2013 at 9:56 am · Thank you very much! Changing the amount of memory in the jvm.ini file to -Xmx1024m didn't help but changing it to 512 worked!Alan Klement+010 AntwortenThis usually means you don't have Java installed / activated. Are you using Flash Professional?Iain Lobb+010 Antworten+Vic Cekvenich You can't really do layout with sprite sheets, and unity doesn't target Flash yet.Tony Patino+010 AntwortenI have at times encountered this problem, and just as mysteriously as it arrives, so does it leave. I can't point to any one action that consistently solves it, but I would try reinstalling any java runtime you may be running, and of course rebooting the system.Iain Lobb+010 Antworten+Tony Patino for me, closing all my open programs, then starting Flash, seeems to work. If I open Flash when FlashDevelop/Spotify/Chrome (not sure which) is open, it fails.Iain Lobb+010 Antworten+Vic Cekvenich I'm talking about things like making a menu with buttons in it, etc.Brandon Ellis+010 AntwortenCS 5.5 on a quad core mac with 8 gigs of ram and a terrabyte HD. Was the strangest thing but really, setting the jvm memory to 512 took care of it for me.Alan Klement+010 AntwortenI like Vic's comments ;) They make me think about how a different approach might look like.Iain Lobb+010 Antworten+Antonio Holguin CS5.5 - Vista, Dual Core, 4GBs. First got the error after editing the amount of memory available to the JVM in the Flash config.Iain Lobb+010 Antworten+Alan Klement Yeah I don't mind. I could conceivably make a little AIR app to layout menus/buttons etc quite easily. Textfields and nesting would be the tricky things.Kommentar hinzufügen...
