first time on 11.1.2.2. I'm getting the following error message: Error Initializing Localization Module I failed to initialize maxl found something on the OTN forum and it says I have to run startMaxL.cmd Can someone please explain what this file is? How do I get to it? Do I have to change my .bat file in order to run it? Here is the script I'm trying to run: @echo on del D:\hyplogmsg\PreSalesDimBldLog.txt essmsh D:\Scripts\SalesCube\PTNAScripts\Prelim\PreSalesDIMBLD.txt The text file is just a file with MAXL statements in it. In my 11.1.2.2 installation (Windows), I find that file here: D:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\EssbaseServer\essbaseserver1\bin. While I havent gone live with my 11.1.2.2 installation, I found that by setting my ESSBASEPATH environment variable to: 'D:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\Essbase\EssbaseServer', I can run essmsh seemingly ok without running that StartMaxl.bat file.Scoring disabled. (troubleshooting) Problem(Abstract) Essbase plug-in: Error initializing localization module Resolving the problem DescriptionThe IBM Cognos Command Center Essbase plug-in task produces the following error message: Error initializing localization module This is caused by an invalid or missing ESSBASEPATH environment variable. To test this theory, run ESSMSH.exe using the Windows Command Prompt. The same error message should be displayed. In the screenshot below, the value of http://www.network54.com/Forum/58296/thread/1367440576/Error+Initializing+Localization+Module ESSBASEPATH is not correct. Solution The ESSBASEPATH environment variable needs to be set to the correct value. Once this is set, then ESSMSH.exe and the IBM Cognos Command Center Essbase plugin should initialize correctly. Step #1: Login to the Essbase Server that has an Essbase Client installed. Be sure to http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21637412 use the Windows account that the CCC agent is started under. Step #2: Get the correct ESSBASEPATH for the Essbase server, To find this, open up 'startMaxl.cmd', which is typically in the Essbase-client directory. This file will contain the correct ESSBASEPATH as in the screenshot below: Step #3: Add or modify the user variable for ESSBASEPATH by editing the system environment variables. Step #4: Restart the CCC agent service on the Essbase server which will use the new environment variables. You should now be able to use Cognos Command Center Essbase Plugin Tasks or ESSMSH.exe natively in a Command Prompt.
