Dell Poweredge 1950 Error Codes
3 Mar 2008 2:36 Hello, We lost connectivity to a PE2950 earlier today and when we arrived at the data centre dell poweredge 2950 e1624 the front-panel LCD was orange and saying the following: "E1420 CPU Bus PERR". I power cycled the machine and it came back up with no problems and currently SEEMS to be running fine. When I

loaded up Dell Server Administrator it shows everything with green check marks and doesnt report any issues. When I look at the log section it shows that there was a critical error (red x) and reports a similar error to the front panel LCD. My question now is:1) What is the error? Is it something I should be worried about?2) Why is the front panel LCD still amber dell 2950 e1422 cpu machine chk showing that error when the server administrator is reporting no issues? Please advise, thanks Like 0 Reply You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available. Posted by snapohead on 4 Mar 2008 4:51 Clearing the logs will change the LCD to blue and remove the error. But I suspect the error may appear again at a later stage. Were there any errors indicating a particular CPU? If not, it may require a replacement MB at some stage.See how it runs, and if the problems persist then log a call with Dell. Do you know what that error actually means? What is PERR? Some sort of pairty error? The strange thing is that the server has been working perfectly fine since the incident. Not sure what could have caused it. I'm worried because its an important server. I'm using PERC raid controller (RAID1 on sys drives, RAID10 on data drives) - if I pull those drives and put th

Solved Dell Poweredge 2950 CPU Bus Error e1410 e1614 e1420 Posted on 2012-04-20 Server Hardware 1 Verified Solution 11 Comments 3,906 Views Last Modified: 2013-07-22 Hello, I just bought a gently used server from a friend's business and it has been working great until this evening when upon http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/servers/f/956/t/18903018 setting it up for SQL it HALTED during a database restore with an error CPU BUS Error e1410 and an e1420. I turned off the server. Unplugged the power and started the server back on and everything has been fine. Should I be concerned or was this a possible fluke? It seems these CPU Bus errors can be random... Or be caused by the Broadcom Nic drivers which I did use the latest 2011 version and not the originally https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/27686057/Dell-Poweredge-2950-CPU-Bus-Error-e1410-e1420.html shipped version when setting up Windows Server Standard 2003 R2... Thank you! 0 Question by:tacshose1 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google Best Solution bytacshose1 Well Prime95 caused another error and now the server will not boot, guess I'll return it. Go to Solution 11 Comments Message Author Comment by:tacshose12012-04-20 It seems to almost predictably occur when I use my Seagate USB 2.0 external drive for backing up data is my only thought. If I plug it in after Windows boots it will crash upon heavy transfer. If I plug the drive in before turning the server on, it seems to work fine. This could be coincidental I have only done this about 8 times. Prime95 torture test is running great and no crashes. I would think this would cause a pretty quick hardware problems. So drivers? USB? Real hardware problems I should stress over? 0 Message Accepted Solution by:tacshose12012-04-20 Well Prime95 caused another error and now the server will not boot, guess I'll return it. 0 LVL 32 Overall: Level 32 Server Hardware 25 Message Active today Expert Comment by:PowerEdgeTech2012-04-20 I would recommend making sure your system firmware (BIOS, ESM/BMC, RAID, NIC, and DRAC) are up to date to ensure maximum system stability. Many 2950 BIOS updates address CPU and memory bugs. 0 LVL 9 Overall: Level 9 Server Hardware 1 Message Expert Comment by:faizbaig2012-04-20 Have you cleared the Hardware Log?

( They are replacing the 2950 (intel) with a 2970 (AMD)) I would like to look into this further, and maybe provide some info the vbox community. I have read other cases in forums, if you google "e1420 cpu bus perr" you can read about it. Well I was on the phone with dell for over 3hrs fighting to get my server replaced, they insisted it was caused by vbox. I told them to show me documents, they said they have many cases with M$ virtual server 2005 and old redhat but none from virtual box to show me. :s So I highly doubt it is caused by vbox. I would like to buy support, but im getting the machine replaced so there is no point. But I would like to log this error.
