The server is functioning fine though. I had a similar problem with another one of the disks 6 months ago and I just did a rebuild and it went dell poweredge 2850 power consumption away. Should I do the same this time? Is something failing that shouldn't, i.e. the controller? Posted by at5147 on 22 Jul 2007 20:58 You can do a couple of things to start. You could run diags through OMSA to verify the drive. If the system has not been rebooted

since the drive went offline, then you can pull a controller log through OMSA and post it here for review. Or you can just reseat the drive while the system is up and running, which will start a rebuild. Of course, always make sure that you have a backup before starting anything just in case. Posted by ReinerK on 23 Jul 2007 8:22 I found the 2850 series very sensitive in respect to raid controllers firmware and drivers. _after_ you have a fully functional raid again, you should consider to check and update them. greetings, reinerMessage Edited by ReinerK on 07-23-2007 11:23 AM Like 0 Reply You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available. Looks like according to documentation that this indicates a drive failure. Maybe I've misunderstood the concept of RAID-5, but we had 5 36GB SCSI hard drives in this server. Even if one of them died, shouldn't the server be able to continue https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/26234837/Amber-Error-PowerEdge-2650-e0d76.html running? I don't have any spare hard drive slots so I never had a "hot spare". What's the course of action? Just hot swap the dead drive and the array will be rebuilt? 0 Question by:DVation191 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 20 Best Solution byDVation191 I pulled the first drive that failed and rebuilt the array but the drives kept flashing and the array manager showed no members. Do a backup now, as a 2nd failure means total data loss. Also, since all of your disks ar

Within the Dell Server Administrator program, in the logs section, I am seeing entries for: dell poweredge ID: 2094 - Storage Service - Predictive Failure reported: Physical Disk 1:4 Controller 0, Connector 1 So I purchased a new drive to replace it and upon inserting it, noticed that the system wasn't taking it. Usually it will start the rebuild right away, but this time the LEDs on the caddy were blinking orange and the front display said: e0d76 bp drive x where x is I am assuming 4. I rebooted the server to see if that would clear the issue, it dell poweredge 2850 didn't. I went into the RAID Management utility (CTRL+M) to try to rebuild the disk from there, but after selecting the disk and starting the rebuild, "ERROR" appeared on the screen. Does anyone have experience with this issue? Thanks in advance. 0 Question by:ITDeptAtPCS Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 63 Best Solution bySysExpert DOuble check the # of sectors. Can you test the new drive in a different system to make sure it is OK ? Have you ever booted disk into O/S? If you did the replacement from BIOS and never took the array online, then the previous disk should be put back to bring the array online. Put the replacement disk in a new slot, set as hot spare via the management utility. Then do a data consistency check on whole array just to make sure that there are no ba
