What model Xeons are you installing? 0 Mace OP Helpful Post John White Jul 11, 2012 at 1:55 UTC Go to support.dell.com and put in your service tag. Go to the upgrades section and see what model CPUs are available. Ultimately the issue is that just because the CPUs fit in the socket doesn't mean they're supported by the system. I believe Dell provides phone support even if you're out of warranty, so you might want to call and ask. 0 Jalapeno OP Willy @ Dell Jul 11, 2012 at 6:03 UTC The PowerEdge 6850 platform will support the following products at the listed core/bus speeds: • Intel® (Cranford) processors at 3.16 and 3.6 GHz/667 MHz. • Intel (Potomac) processors at 3.0 and 3.33 GHz/667 MHz. • Intel Xeon® 7000 (Paxville) processors at 2.66 GHz
