Dell Poweredge 2950 Power Consumption
Jun 2012 12:39 Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone else has ran into this. The server is a PowerEdge 2950 II running 8X 2GB chips, and recently presented the E2119 Fatal SB Mem CRC error. Did some article reading and seemed that replacing the memory would clear it.I replaced the server memory last night with ram from another PE 2950 dell poweredge 2950 price II that was working and this morning its generating the errors again.Anyone have any recommendations on what else to do? I was thinking it might be time to replace the motherboard but I wasn't sure. Also to clarify, the server was off and un-plugged during the memory swap for around 8 minutes. (I gave extra time for everything to clear out). The memory I replaced it with is memory that came from another server that has been running for a couple years with no problems whatsoever.Thank you guys and gals! Clear the hardware log via the CTRL-E Drac/ESM prompt on startup afterwards and let me know how it goes. Solved Dell PowerEdge 2950 has error: E2119 fatal sb mem crc Posted dell poweredge 2950 dimensions on 2011-11-21 Server Hardware Hardware 2 Verified Solutions 5 Comments 9,111 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-12 Hello, We have a Dell PowerEdge 2950 with an amber readout on the LCD that says: e2119 fatal sb mem crc. From what http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/servers/f/956/t/19451638 I've read, this indicates "One of the connections in the FBD memory subsystem link on the Southbound side has failed." Does this indicate a motherboard problem? Or perhaps just a faulty DIMM? If I need to swap out DIMMs a pair at a time, which ones do I target first? (Which ones are on the southbridge?) What's strange is that, while the OpenManage log does indeed show a "Mem Fatal SB CRC: Memory sensor, uncorrectable ECC was asserted" error, OpenManage doesn't show https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/27459079/Dell-PowerEdge-2950-has-error-E2119-fatal-sb-mem-crc.html any problems under the memory section, it says all is well, but the front panel still has the error. I've tried Memtest, and it goes through a few of it's tests without error, but there's quite a bit of RAM on board so I don't really have the 4+ hours it would take to complete all passes. The system also appears to be running normally, no instability to speak of. So I'm not sure what's going on here. 0 Question by:indigo6 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 10 Best Solution byThorinO If you call into support they will still assist you even though it is out of support, however they won't send replacements. Does Dell allow for an extension after the warranty period has lapsed? When I go to that page, it takes me to the general download page for the server. I have run online diagnostics, no problems reported there either. 0 LVL 10 Overall: Level 10 Server Hardware 2 Message Accepted Solution by:ThorinO2011-11-21 If you call into support they will still assist you even though it is out of support, h
provides status messages to signify when its physical system is operating well or when needs some attention. The LCD lights blue to indicate a normal operating condition, and lights amber to indicate an error condition.
