I was moving the power cords of servers https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/773610-dell-poweredge-2950-e2022-post-fail-after-replacing-power-supply from a failed UPS to a good one. After plugging one of them in I heard a bang http://www.admon.org/hardwares/dell-pe2950-lcd-message-explained/ and smelled the smell of fried electronics - one of the 2 power supplies on a Dell PowerEdge 2950 had fried and with it inside the server wouldn't boot. I removed the bad power supply and the server came back just fine (with the amber light flashing in the back, but it works fine). Then I powered it off and put in a good power supply from another server that dell poweredge I no longer need. The power supplies are exactly the same, same part #, etc. I turn on the PowerEdge (the amber light no longer flashes) and in the middle of the boot process there's a message on screen blinking "System Halted!" and the LED panel on the front says E2022 Post Fail. I powered the server off, I removed that second power supply and the server boots fine again. What could be happening? I've been googling but haven't found anything yet. Thanks!
