If this server has an iDRAC card, it's probably not configured or even plugged into the network. Maybe a command line tool for RHEL5 that can clear it? Thanks for the help. With RHEL, if you have Open Manage installed you can run the following: omconfig system esmlog action=clear omconfig can be found in /opt/dell/srvadmin/sbin/ So you can just run this command and then it is clear. # /opt/dell/srvadmin/sbin/omconfig system esmlog action=clear After clearing. recheck the log to see what error is actually occurring. If it is a dimm, which is likely, power down and swap it with another location and then see if the error follows the dimm or the slot.. If it follows, then you know the dimm is to blame. Let me know what you see. 0 Mace OP Texkonc May 9, 2011 at 10:15 UTC It should say DIMM #, lead to the stick that is a problem. Power off and move stick to different slot. If the error moves to the new DIMM, then you have a bad stick. If the error stays on the same dimm slot, then your mobo might be bad. Call dell and get it replaced. 0 Jalapeno OP RichieMac May 10, 2011 at 8:50 UTC I had this same error on a refurbed 2950 we got from the dell outlet. It ended up being that half of the RAM in the machine was one brand and half was another. Keep in mind this was sold to us like that from the outlet. The error we had specified which DIMM slot the bad dimm was in. First we moved the dimm and error stayed on same DIMM so they replaced motherboard. Machine was fine for 2 weeks and error came back. Different DIMM slot though. Dell ended up replacing all RAM sticks in the machine and all was fine after that. 0 Serrano OP Bryan lawless May 10, 2011 at 10:47 UTC i will have to take a look at the error logs then i did do a memory test and it didnt find any issues that it could see but then again i dont trust thos test most of them that dell provides. i will have to check it out later to night. 0 Jalapeno OP RichieMac May 10, 2011 at 10:55 UTC We went back and forth with them for over 2 months on this particular issue. They wanted us to remove all dimms except for 2 and then let the server run to see if error returned. After 4th swap of the dimms i finally got sick of their troubleshooting methods and told them to send me all new RAM. I had to get a supervisor involved but they did it. I wasn't going to deal with waiting to see if my production backup server crashed as a means of troubleshooting. My lesson for that day was dont buy refurbed servers. I normally have
