Redundancy (switching the fan did nothing still says Fan 3). Dell OpenManage say: System Board FAN 3 RPM 0 RPM [N/A] [N/A] 2025 RPM [N/A] - The zero reading is incorrect, all fans are spinning and are working fine. #1. Does this mean that something is wrong with the connection on the board? #2. Will the other fans wear out now that they have to compensate i1911 3 errs chk log for the incorrect reading ? Posted by theflash1932 on 16 May 2013 9:28 "The zero reading is incorrect, all fans are spinning and are working fine" That might just mean that the fan connector's signaling to the system has gone bad (yes, the connector on the motherboard, not the fan itself, unfortunately). Yes, eventually the other fans will wear out or fail given the additional heat generated from spinning at a faster rate. I would swap the fans, then clear the Hardware/ESM Log to make sure that the error is not "stuck" in the log. I would also make sure your system firmware (primarily BIOS and ESM) are up to date. I would call dell support assuming you're under warranty, and they will either ship you a new fan or send a tech out to fix it.
