Join Now Hi, I dell poweredge 2850 memory am trying to install a 180 Day trial of Windows Server 2012 x64 on a Dell Poweredge 2850 with a PERC 4e RAID controller. dell poweredge 2850 server manual As with most Dell PE servers, you need the Dell Installation and Server management disc before installing the OS, or it will not recognise the RAID volume, or you need a disc/floppy with the driver. I have version 5.0 https://www.storagecraft.com/support/forum/error-loading-operating-system-dell-poweredge-1800 with my Dell Poweredge 2850, which only supports up to Server 2003 on the disc. The latest version I believe is now called Dell OpenManage Server Admin 7.1, and works with Server 2012, however from what I have read, it doesn't work with Dell PowerEdge 2850, or 2950/2950 Gen 3. So I am now stuck on how to get Server 2012 to work on my 2850. Am I going to have to fork out for new servers, or is there https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/293356-unable-to-install-server-2012-on-dell-poweredge-2850-perc-4e-di any other way to get it to work ? The Windows server 2012 had all the correct drivers. I am running a Dell 2950 at home with raid 1 for the OS and raid 10 for the rest, and I have a small NAS for backups. It has been working fine for a month. 0 Datil OP Best Answer Mark McKinlay Jan 21, 2013 at 2:25 UTC might be of use http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/servers/f/1466/p/19465175/20178388.aspx#20178388 but officially Dell doesn't support that controller. Easy way round it is to get a copy of the free Xenserver and virtualise your 2012 installation which will work fine. You could probably get a VMware product to work also but I have no experience of it. Hyper V your back at the same windows driver issue unless you use an old version.

But i just got home from a LAN that i went to and when i tried to boot for the first time i got a "Missing operating system error". The first thing i figured was that i must have knocked a drive unplugged during the transport of my PC. I opened the pc up but couldnt find anything wrong. I also noticed something else...usually when i start up it will show a quick splash screen of my hard drives that i have connected...now it just says it cant detect any. The weird thing is when i go into BIOS they are still listed under the SATA devices. Any tips? Im hoping this is just an easy fix and i didnt physically damage anything while carrying around my PC Here are some specs: Windows Vista Ultimate Asus Maximus Formula 2 x 150 GB Western Digital Raptors in RAID 0 UPDATE: I tried using the repair function on the Windows disc. I couldn't find my operation system on the list of OS's to repair, even after loading the drivers i used to set up the raid. So i just hit next and tried the "Startup Repair" function anyway. It worked for around 15 minutes before saying it could not repair the operating system.
