Join Now Not sure whats going on, https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/577874-problems-adding-ram-to-poweredge-r210 but I cannot seem to get any RAM added to a PowerEdge R210. The server currently has 2x 2GB dimms in slots 1&3. Trying to add (nearly) identical RAM to dimms 2&4, or even removing the existing dimms and putting the second set in slots 1&3 prevent the server from booting. I get error code (light) "1". which indicates that it's not detecting any memory modules when anything other than (or in addition dell poweredge to) the pre-installed ram is inserted. I've attached a photo of the RAM. Pre-installed RAM is the Dell ram on top, new ram is HP on bottom. Best I can tell, this ram is identical. Why would the server refuse to boot it? Tag is 198YRR1, if it helps. Reply Subscribe View Best Answer RELATED TOPICS: At what age do you write off PC's? Is it worth adding RAM to 5 year old PC? Performance. Mirrored and one other setting I'm not remembering off the top of my head. But usually this is a reason. Also, if the ram isn't identical it will give you the results you are getting, least that's what I've ran into. 0 Cayenne OP Best Answer JAITM Sep 7, 2014 at 1:24 UTC Endless.Technology is an IT service provider. If I had to guess, the "HP" RAM is actually a fall over of the bad old days when Compaq was a closed architecture platform, hence the "-C", likely for Compaq. The history of Compaq using a unique memory address structure dates back as far as I can remember, and if that is the case here, it will not run in anything that does not have a Compaq BIOS. The only way to be sure is to contact the manufacturer and find out what the difference is between "AB (1136)" and "AB-C (1045)". 0 Serrano OP ErikFest Sep 7, 2014 at 3:36 UTC On the flip side, I've upgraded the RAM in one of our boxes, an
