I keep getting a "compiler file error, build cancelled" when I try and burn. When I simulate it plays fine in DVD Studio Pro4. Any advice on how to trouble shoot what is wrong? I've used compressor to export my files from final cut 6.0.6. In compressor I choose DVD best quality 90 minutes , mpeg2 and AC3 audio. I am working on a Mac OS x 10.7.4, intel core i5.Any advice? Thank you! If the m2v and AC3 files that were output from Compressor will play (separately) in Quick Time Player, it would indicate the problem doesn't lie with Compressor and would point to DVDSP - possibly a corrupt preference. If you don't have it, download Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager .It will find all the relevant preference files and safely trash them. Then try the build process again.Good luck.Russ Posted on Aug 6, 2012 5:09 AM See the answer in context Close Q: My DVD wont burn? Bypass the menus (delete the menu in the graphical tab to save time). See if it will build in the new project.Russ Helpful (0) Reply options Link to this post by Rachael Levine, Rachael Levine Aug 5, 2012 7:53 PM in response to Russ H Level 1 (15 points) Aug 5, 2012 7:53 PM in response to Russ H HI RussIt looks like there must be something wrong with my software or computer, because I tried what you suggested, got rid of my menus and just used tracks but same error message appeared. Simulating the project works fine, but not the burn. Out of curiosity, I tried to burn the same project on my MacBook Pro and it worked fine, running the same version on FCP Studio 2. I had to select build/format, as it was only on build. Thank you for replying - I'm most grateful. Comment Post Cancel Kia M. I was having an issue even getting this project to save because it was originally created in another account on the same computer. Finally got it to save and was able to work on it, but it won't let me build. I get this dvd studio 4 maddeningly non-specific error message. Reply Quote danajstrom Re: Compiler File Error on Build August 06, 2009 03:04PM Registered: 9 years ago Posts: 47 Compiler error usually has to do with read/write permissions (would make sense since you've got multiple accounts going on)... check the location of where you've set your build (in preferences OR in the build/format box -whichever you're dealing with)- it may be in a folder that your account doesn't have write access privileges to... Try creating a new folder on your desktop to build to- that ought to work temporarily - the real solution is to work out the appropriate read/write permissions from an administrator level on your machine. Hi, thank you for contacting JustAnswer.com. My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question. When does the error occur? when you are trying to do what operation? e.g. start the program, compile a file, etc.I suggest you try a preferences reset, simply done as follows:In Finder, go toHome folder of Admin accountthen to the subfolder named librarythen to the subfolder named preferencesand locate, then delete or remove to the Trash:com.apple.dvdstudiopro.plistand it ought to re-build its Preferences, and straighten out the unknown error in them. (If you have a corrupted Preferences file.) Ask Your Own Computer Hardware Question Customer: replied1 year ago.
