shoot what is wrong? I've used compressor to export my files from final cut 6.0.6. In compressor dvd studio pro unknown device error I choose DVD best quality 90 minutes , mpeg2 and AC3 audio. I am working on a Mac OS x 10.7.4, intel core i5.Any advice? Thank you! Final Cut Studio '09, Mac OS X (10.5.8) Posted on Aug 5, 2012 3:56 PM I have this question too by Russ H,Solvedanswer Russ H Level 7 (21,835 points) Quicktime A: Hi Rachel.I'm skeptical there is anything wrong with your hardware that is producing these build errors. If the m2v and AC3 files that were output from Compressor will play (separately) in Quick Time Player, it would indicate the problem doesn't lie with Compressor and would point to DVDSP - possibly a corrupt preference. If you don't have it, download Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager .It will find all the relevant preference files and safely trash them. Then try the build process again.Good luck.Russ Posted on Aug 6, 2012 5:09 AM See the answer in context Close Q: My DVD wont burn? Bypass the menus (delete the menu in the graphical tab to save time). See if it will build in the new project.Russ Helpful (0) Reply options Link to this post by Rachael Levine, Rachael Levine Aug 5, 2012 7:53 PM in response to Russ H Level 1 (15 points) Aug 5, 2012 7:53 PM in response to Russ H HI RussIt looks like there must be something wrong with my software or computer, because I tried what you suggested, got rid of my menus and just used tracks but same error message appeared. I tried burning old projects that worked before and now are not burning. I recently ( about 3 mos ago) upgraded my computer ( now working on Mac OSx 10.7.4, intel core i5 with DVDSP 4.2.1, FCP 6.0.6 , Compressor 3.0.5) and re-installed my FCP and DVDsp so maybe there is something wrong with my burn drive however I have burned music cds no problem...? I've also tried different settings in compressor, like prores - for QT, a .mov file, and still no luck...

When building your DVD Studio Pro projects, do you ever get this error message? The best way to deal with this situation, is to simply delete your preferences. We do this by going through the Finder > User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.dvdstudiopro.plist and putting it into the trash. Empty the trash and restart. It is important to remember to write down your preferences or https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4180570?start=0&tstart=0 back them up before trashing them. That way anything specific you might have changed for your particular project will still be available. No one can say exactly why this error message happens; it could be any number of things from encoding to destination settings. But trashing the preferences seems to do the trick. In some cases others have had to reinstall the software. I was having an issue even getting this project to save because it was originally created in another account on the same computer. Finally got it to save and was able to work on it, but it won't let me build. I get this dvd studio pro maddeningly non-specific error message. Reply Quote danajstrom Re: Compiler File Error on Build August 06, 2009 03:04PM Registered: 9 years ago Posts: 47 Compiler error usually has to do with read/write permissions (would make sense since you've got multiple accounts going on)... check the location of where you've set your build (in preferences OR in the build/format box -whichever you're dealing with)- it may be in a folder that your account doesn't have write access privileges to... Try creating a new folder on your desktop to build to- that ought to work temporarily - the real solution is to work out the appropriate read/write permissions from an administrator level on your machine.
