Everytime I attempt to build my project, I get an error message saying that my video file is not a valid asset. The video has been exported from Final Cut Pro using export>>>Final Cut Pro Movie. I have always exported video in this way for use in DVD Studio Pro and have never had any problems. I am pretty sure that there have been no changes in my working method so I do not understand why suddenly I am getting the 'invalid asset' error. The DVD appears to be fine in the simulator but will not build. Please please help as a deadline is fast approaching. In pc land, recognition of assets is reliant upon file extensions (.avi, .wav,.mpg). Are there assets without extensions? I know mac's do this a bit different - and sometimes don't use/rely on extensions. So.. food for thought until someone else comes along. Dave aztecvideo.co.uk

Don't have any answers to your problem, can't find anything similar on any DVDSP forum. If not yet resolved, Skype me (foxvidpro) and we'll talk it through. Can you email the log file for the build? I have emailed you the log. I just did a cut and paste, is that sufficient or is there another way of exporting the file itself? It formats with no problem but stops during the build process giving https://forums.creativeplanetnetwork.com/forum/final-cut-studio/dvd-studio-pro/55433-invalid-video-asset-on-build me the error message "invalid video asset". I've googled the problem and followed some suggestions, like trashing PAR folders and reference files of the project and starting anew, but to no avail. After hours of formatting I get the same message again. It's a 45 min movie, hence the process is quite slow on my Powerbook G4 1.67, 1.5 gb ram, OSX 10.3.9. Has anyone come across this problem? Should I perhaps trash DVD SP prefs? Thanks in advance, Magnus Tags: None David Moderator Join Date: Oct 2003 Posts: 12000 #2 10-07-2008, 08:12 AM What codec is the movie? [ date ] [ thread ] [ subject ] [ author ] Okay - http://lists.studenttelevision.com/pipermail/affiliates/2009-February/000013.html my turn to be red-faced... Been exporting sequences/projects http://www.macitynet.it/forum/topic/50953-invalid-video-asset/ from FCP as Quicktime files at the default "current settings", bringing them subsequently into DVD Studio Pro, and authoring and burning DVD's with no problems whatsoever for more than two years. (Yes - self contained and dvd studio with DVD Studio Pro Markers.) Now we're running into the issue of "formatting failed" but only on occasion, and with no pattern to it I have discerned. The log always lists one of the quicktime sequences we're trying to burn as an "invalid asset". The dvd studio pro quicktime file of the exported sequence in question never seems to have any problems noticeable when simply played back with QT player or FCP, and plays straight through with no problems. We're talking about sequences that are typically 20-30 minutes running time. I've already googled around and gotten some eye-crossing tidbits online, but in hopes any of you have been down this road before and can add something that doesn't cause me to mentally shut down as I try to interpret the techno-babble, I thought I'd give it a shot.
