This discussion is locked David Christie1 Level 1 (10 points) Q: Formatting Failed: Compiler File Error Hello...Yesterday I got my crossgrade disks from Apple, so I upgraded my G4 Powerbook with the full Studio Pro upgrade, then made sure I had all current patches. When I opened up one of my DVD Studio Pro projects and clicked Burn, It failed with a dailog box that said "Formatting failed, Building was not successful, See log" so I looked at the log and it said in red "Compiler File Error" This project worked fine before I upgraded... So, for grins, I started from scratch and rebuilt the project and reimported the assets. Now I had just recompressed the video/audio with the new compressor as well... Anyway, same result. Also, when it fails, the OS-X window pops up that you normally get once you insert a blank DVD and you can choose an app or hit ignore. Can't figure this out... Any help would be greatly appreciated.DavePowerbook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.3) Posted on Dec 28, 2006 4:19 AM I have this question too Close Q: Formatting Failed: Compiler File Error All replies Helpful answers by APPLE27, APPLE27 Dec 28, 2006 6:24 AM in response to David Christie1 Level 2 (370 points) Dec 28, 2006 6:24 AM in response to David Christie1 did you delete your encode files before trying to burn the 2nd time? and, even though you aren't getting a bitrate too high msg, is your audio .ac3? When I opened DVD Studio Pro, it prompted me that assets had changed, I said ok, then tried to burn and go the error. I then tried deleting the PAR folder, no help. So, I just closed the project, hit NEW and recreated the project (it was rather simple) and then tried to burn... Same error.I burned this same DVD two days ago under the old pre-universal version and it worked fine. I only recompresse
I never had a problem authoring a dvd until tonight. I exported a 30 minute file out of final cut then imported the file into dvd studio pro. I have set my encode bit rate to 6.6 and 7.8(max). I set the "first play" to be the track and when I click burn dvd I get "Compiler File Error" please see log. Any one have any ideas what the issue is? This was supposed to be an easy project, errrrr! Any information would be greatly appreciated. screen shots attached Curt C. Once was while using https://discussions.apple.com/thread/789213?tstart=0 a files from a usb key, and the another time was when my project files were scattered around my hard drive. After centralizing all my files in one location on my hard drive (in both situations) it fixed the problem. Not sure if that helps or not. I've also heard about this problem in imacs due to memory leaks. I think the fix for that was to just build it to your hard drive and not click burn. Instead http://www.kenstone.net/discussions/read.php?3,9486,9497 burn with toast. Are you clicking burn or build? Or have you tried both? Reply Quote Re: "Compiler File Error" IN DVD studio Pro (February 26, 2009 06:46PM) cchampag well, I don't have toast so I guess I can't try that. I typically just click burn and it builds on its own then burns afterwords...I'm not familiar with any other method to be honest. Cheers Alexander Reply Quote Re: "Compiler File Error" IN DVD studio Pro (February 26, 2009 06:28PM) cchampag Well, A dvd I sent out last week that was succesful;did not have a menu on it. I formatted it the same way as the one I am doing tonight. I did try to burn another dvd of the one that was succesful from last week and I still get compiler filer error. I am moving the .mov file to my desktop now to see if its my drive. or Maybe dvd studio pro file is corrupted...
