I having been trying to compress and burn it to a DVD with great frustration and difficulty. I've been able to create a .mov and burned to a CD with no problems, but the non profit I created it for would like it on a DVD. I don't need chapters or titles. Just a simple first play. I have followed on-line tutorials, including the one posted here by Larry Jordan. But part way through the burn and format process, I get the same error: "Formatting failed. The recording device reported the media error: Unknown device error. (0x0C, 0x00.)" I have tried two different brands of DVD, and several different DVDs thinking at first it may have been a dud. I have tried two different methods of compression. Using compressor, and letting DVD SP do the compressing. Both ways get me up to the error message. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried to ask around at the DV Expo this week, but it was a little overwhelming. More info that may be helpful: Mac OS 10.6.4 2 x 2.26 GHz quad core intel Xeon FCP 7.0.3 DVD SP: 4.2.2 DVD-R - memorex and HP I also made a screen capture of DVD SP when I got the error message if that is of help. Thanks!! This will create a disk image that you can open up in Disk Utility and burn from there. But be aware that this error can sometimes indicate a physical failure with the device. I have compressed a 72 minute Audio and Video, built the DVD is Studio Pro and it wont work!!! Just spits out the DVD giving me this error "The recording device reported the media error: Unknown device error. (0x0C, 0x00." A bit of info. I had changed the https://forums.creativeplanetnetwork.com/forum/final-cut-studio/dvd-studio-pro/59119-can-t-burn-dvd-on-my-laptop destination under preferences because i was trying to use an external drive. I thought that might have been the problem so I switched it back to Macintosh HD. What is going on? Please help. I'd try one at 1X and see if that's an issue. Try creating a VIDEO_TS and burn with Toast. Could be the drive too, see if you can drum up an external to try. Does anyone at all know what could be the problem? It cant be my burner, as it still burns art of the disc, just not dvd studio the whole thing! Super frustrating, just really want to get these discs burned! May end up uninstalling and reinstalling the program mutesaint03-15-2010, 07:44 PMI use that software. What kind of disc are you using? Size of files your burning on the disc? Obviously the media files were encoded correctly or it would not of even let you import them. Maybe post a bit more of the details. http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2300454&tstart=0 dvd studio pro After looking online I found this that suggests that switching disc types might solve the issue. Creative Cow is a damn fine website to troubleshoot apple products on. Anytime I've ever had issues with Final Cut Studio I've found helpful info there. Thats the best I can do off hand without either the specific error code or more knowledge on what you are burning SkyNet03-16-2010, 12:26 AMive tried 2 dif types f discs (TDK and Verbatim) and here is what im getting: I finish creating the project, i scaled it down to make it less complicated, to only 2 tracks.. more concerned with getting the shit on a DVD 2 by 2 if need be!
