Notes Error Note Item Not Found Body
mime conversion; cd; MIME PART; NY Times; N.Y. Times Technote (FAQ) Question When opening a Lotus Notes memo that is in Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) format, the following error occurs: "Note item not found" The error does not occur with all memos that are in MIME format. The issue has been observed in multiple customer sites with particular emails that are received from a New York Times subscription. Answer This issue has been reported to Quality Engineering as SPR #DPSY68DE2U. The issue is only observed in cases where the size of the MIME content requires the use of an attachment to contain the content. Therefore, the issue might not be observed with all memos that are in MIME format. Additionally, while the issue has been observed in a number of cases where the memo was sent based on a New York Times subscription, it may not be limited to such cases. Workaround To access the content of the problemmatic memos: A LotusScript agent can be used to open the MIME content attachment using an Internet browser. This is done by: Getting a handle to the document. Using the GetAttachment method (of the NotesDocument class) to get a handle to the MIME content attachment. The content is then written to the hard drive by using the ExtractFile method (of the NotesEmbeddedObject class). Finally, the Shell function can be used to launch the browser, passing the MIME content file from the hard drive as the file to load. The following example LotusScript code could be placed into the Initialize event of an agent designed to run on a collection set of "Selected Documents". To display the content of one of the problem memos you would select it in your mail file and then run the agent. In this example the code launches Microsoft Internet Explorer, but the code could be designed to launch any browser installed on the operating system by editing the cmdLine variable's string. Dim s As New NotesSession Dim db As NotesDatabase Dim dc As NotesDocumentCollection Dim doc As NotesDocument Dim MIMEobj As NotesEmbeddedObject Set db = s.CurrentDatabase Set dc = db.UnprocessedDocuments Set doc = dc.GetFirstDocument Set MIMEobj = doc.GetAttach
