Notes Error You Cannot Update Or Delete The Documents Since
ARE NOT LISTED AS AN ALLOWABLE AUTHOR FOR THIS DOCUMENT" Subscribe You can track all active APARs for this component. APAR status Closed as program error. Error description When setting up notes clients, new users get error message: "You cannot update or delete the document(s) since you are not listed as an allowable Author for this document" Customer wants to restrict users author access on person docs of domino directory. For this purpose, customer via agent has revoked the user access by replacing the owner value by "%AdminComparnyName" That change, is causing all Notes clients to get the above error during first time setup. The error only comes up once and setup will continue after you click OK. Users should NOT need to be owners of their person docs, but apparently something is requiring this with the 8.5 client. Customer considers this as a defect in 8.5. Customer uses the above modification on their Domino R703 and Notes Client R654. Most users are not an author in their person docs. In the new R85 Domain this issue is happening with Server R851 and LN Client 8.5.0 FP1 SHF231 Customer indicates that any change that the client needs to do into the domino directory should be handled by the AdminP Process. Local fix To do the set up of the clients as previusly, modify the owner field in the person document of the Domino Directory Problem summary A programming error was found and will be corrected in a future release. When a user composes a form and tries to save it, he gets an error "You cannot update or delete the document(s) since you are not listed as an allowable Author for this document" The form contains a Authors field and Readers field which are computed and also "Allow multiple values" is checked. In both the fields the User Name is listed. Can anyone give me an idea on why this error is occuring. Also i http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd6forum.nsf/DateAllFlatweb/73666ac32a4a49808525758b003a5318?OpenDocument cannot give any user more than Author access to the database. Thanks in Advance. An author, to edit a document, needs to belisted in an AUTHRO NAMES field on teh document, not a reader names field. f there is no authro names field at all, it requires editor ACL access -- no author will be allowed in. (That's different from teh way readers work, where if there are no readers, then everyone is a reader.) Fro delete, tehre is an additonal complication. In teh ACL, youc an have proper author/edit rights, but be specifically restricted from deleting Best
