FCP guys, trashed my preferences 37 times, etc etc. I'm working with AVCHD files as well final cut pro 6 error out of memory as some GFX sent to me by the networks I produce TV shows for. My OLD PowerPC Mac had no issues with this whatsoever. Some

I need help, deadlines are approaching and if I can't output my final cut pro 7 error out of memory fix sequences....it will not be good. The only way I was able to find the culprit out of the 300 or so clips I had in the project was by adding them one after the other and trying to export. I've also final cut pro out of memory error when rendering had success fixing this problem once by trashing all my render files and creating a duplicate sequence to work from. Increase the auto save interval, max. undo's etc. and start eliminating. It's painful and time-intensive but as far as I'm aware the only way to get to a corrupted clip. Maybe someone out there knows of a tool that can batch check the integrity of clips and graphics though? Duplicate your sequence, and cut your sequence in half. Try an export? Does it work? Great! We know the problem is in the half you cut. Now, add in half of the half of the sequence you cut. Repeat. Do it until you find the culprit. Do you have any gfx above 3K or 4K, in terms of frame size? I've often seen that cause issues....FCP no likey high res gfx. ~Michael .: michael kammes mpse .: senior applications editor . post workflow consultant .: audio specialist . act fcp . acsr .: michaelkammes.com .: twitter: @michaelkammes .: facebook: /mkammes Hear me pontificate: Speaking Schedule .Return to posts indexReport Post•Re: FCP "Out of Memory" Errorby John Tate on Jun 9, 2011 at 1:58:53 pmThanks Andre' Ok, so I need to trash my render files, not the cache? The video seems to have to be transcoded in order for FCP to accept it (simply copying the video stream from
Can't get it to render. On Line forums say delete sequences etc., which makes me nervous. Media manager can't assist ( see .jpg ) Help Please Reply Quote Re: Out Of memory (December 27, 2011 10:26AM) David Harbsmeier Don't delete any Sequences!! I http://www.kenstone.net/discussions/read.php?3,37200 don't know where you got that information, but disregard it at completely. Out of Memory error messages could be generated for a number of reasons. One of the most common is using still image files in the Timeline that are not in RGB http://fcpxwtf.blogspot.com/2013/05/fcp-7-out-of-memory-error-solution.html Color Mode. FCP works properly only with RGB Color Mode images - not Grayscale, Indexed or CMYK. Other causes could be a corrupted media or render file, or a lack of free space on your hard drives. All hard drives should have a final cut minimum of 15 to 20% free space available .... especially the boot drive. It can also be a corrupt project file or user file. Check to see if all still images are in RGB Color Mode first, then if that doesn't fix the issue, try dumping the render files for that project and render each clip in the Timeline one-at-a-time to see if it's a corrupt media issue. Also check the free space available on all hard drives. If one or more has less than the recommended final cut pro amount, you'll need to dump some files to make more space. Report back with your findings. -DH Reply Quote Re: Out Of memory (December 27, 2011 10:28AM) Ken Stone Admin To add to what David said, also very large still images will cause this. Check for RGB but also the frame size and 'dpi'. --ken Reply Quote Re: Out Of memory (December 27, 2011 10:36AM) David Harbsmeier Good call, Ken. Images larger than 4000x4000 pixels can cause problems like this as well as too many large images in one Sequence. -DH Reply Quote Re: Out Of memory (December 27, 2011 10:50AM) Jon Chappell Here's what Crash Analyzer has to say: Out of Memory (Final Cut Pro) This can occur if you are editing media that is not supported in Final Cut Pro. This could include FLV, AVI, WMV or H.264 QuickTime movies. It could also include CMYK images or image files larger than 4000 pixels in width or height. Suggested Actions * Run Corrupt Clip Finder to locate corrupt or invalid clips. * If your sequence codec is set to a long-GOP codec such as HDV, H.264, XDCAM, AVCHD, MPEG-2, set it to ProRes. * For best results, convert long-GOP and non-QuickTime media such as AVI or WMV to ProRes. * Make sure all images are RGB. * Ensure image dimensions do not exceed 4000 pixels in width or height. * Ensure there is at least 20% space remaining on your media drive. * Go to Tools > Render Manager and remove render files. * Use Preference M
about FCP7 is its 32bit-ness. It can only rock 4 gig no matter how many terabytes of RAM you have. This gives rise to the bloody fucking shit hole error, 'Out of Memory'. Larry Jordan gives this explanation which can help, but often doesn't solve the problem: The main reason I get this error is when using large still images. Big ass monkey images like 5K or summut. For years I have searched for a solution online and in the ether to no avail. However, yesterday I was told a very simple solution. Go to Sequence/Settings and click on the Video Processing tab. In here you will see that the default is to render in 10-bit. Changing this to render in 8-bit seemed to solve all my memory issues. Oh and by the way rendering takes about half the time in 8 bit mode. Good luck people, and stop using 7 anyway. The approach I always took was to resize any still I was going to use to comfortably under that (say 3k), and I rarely saw the dreaded out of memory error.Of course, you can happily throw a huge layered photoshop file at FCPX and it'll happily lob it on your viewer and composite it without complaint.ReplyDeleteDamien Ghost-Sung23 May 2013 at 05:10I've heard this before, but I did some tests and the size of the image seems to have no affect on the 'out of memory' error.ReplyDeletePL4NETM1ND30 July 2013 at 00:55is there a significant quality loss when rendering in 8-bit compared to 10-bit with Apple ProRes 422 (LT)? ReplyDeleteDamien Ghost-Sung30 July 2013 at 01:25The difference between 8 and 10 bit is colour depth, so if you plan on doing a lot of grading you'll want to stay in 10 bit if you can.The best thing to do is consider your output and audience and do a test.I find that things like vignettes can look a little 'bandy' in 8bit mode.ReplyDeletePL4NETM1ND30 July 2013 at 23:45thanx f
