Final Cut Export Error Out Of Disk Space
• PRINT • NEXT >> • Error: Out of Disk Space (while exporting) by Ryan Domis on May 13, 2011 at 7:35:51 pm I have an issue that is both alarming and annoying. I am trying to export a self contained quicktime mov file and before it even starts, it says "Error: Out of Disk Space." I have almost a terabyte of free space with 8 GB's of RAM. I have googled and searched on creative cow for a solution and Ive seen that trashing your preferences is a good way to fix it. Can someone please tell me how to properly trash my preferences and renew them so I dont lose the ability to have preferences? Also.. everytime I try to fix the " Export: minimum allowable size" and change the amount.. it goes right back to the original number every time i reopen the window. All help is appreciated. I tried to use previous answers to fix this but i need specifics on how to trash and renew the preferences. I am using a MacPro with Final Cut 6.0.6 File sequence is DVCPROHD 720/24p foootage is dvcprohd 720/24pN shot with hvx200 exporting using H.264Return to posts indexReport Post •Re: Error: Out of Disk Space (while exporting)by David Roth Weiss on May 13, 2011 at 7:58:35 pm1) Check all of your drives for space, not just the one you're aiming at. 2) Trash preferences 3) Fix permissions on the system drive in Disk Utility. Where are your scratch/temp/cache files located, and how much disk space is available on that volume? –user9290 Mar 16 '12 at 17:42 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote .DV tends to be about 4MB/sec. So 5 hours is about 18,000 seconds, so you are looking at a capture of about 72000MB, 72G so you should be fine.. Are you sure the Capture Scratch disk is set properly? Sometimes it's set to the wrong drive you want to capture to. Check Preferences if you are using FCP, if you are using FCPX it might be somewhere else, not sure how you set capture disks in FCPX.. share|improve this answer answered Mar 16 '12 at 17:56 Robert 1792 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote I found that System settings- Minimum allowable free space on scratch disks: Set mine to 1000MB and everythng has worked since doing this. share|improve this answer answered Oct 2 '15 at 14:59 Bob 1 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. Can't get it to render. On Line forums say delete sequences etc., which makes me nervous. Media manager can't assist ( see .jpg ) Help Please Reply Quote Re: Out Of memory (December 27, 2011 10:26AM) David Harbsmeier Don't delete any Sequences!! I don't know where you got that information, but disregard it at completely. Out of Memory error messages could be generated for a number of reasons. One of the most common is using still image files in the Timeline that are not in RGB Color Mode. FCP works properly only with RGB Color Mode images - not Grayscale, Indexed or CMYK. Other causes could be a corrupted media or render file, or a lack of free space on your hard drives. All hard drives should have a minimum of 15 to 20% free space available .... especially the boot drive. It can also be a corrupt project file or user file. Check to see if all still images are in RGB Color Mode first, then if that doesn't fix the issue, try dumping the render files for that project and render each clip in the Timeline one-at-a-time to see if it's a corrupt media issue. Also check the free space available on all hard drives. If one or more has less than the recommended amount, you'll need to dump some files to make more space. Report back with your findings. -DH Reply Quote Re: Out Of memory (December 27, 2011 10:28AM) Ken Stone Admin To add to what David said, also very large still images will cause this. Check for RGB but also the frame size and 'dpi'. --ken Reply Quote Re: Out Of memory (December 27, 2011 10:36AM) David Harbsmeier Good call, Ken. Images larger than 4000x4000 pixels can cause problems like this as well as too many large images in one Sequence. -DH Reply Quote Re: Out Of memory (December 27, 2011 10:50AM) Jon Chappell Here's what Crash Analyzer has to say: Out of Memory (Final Cut Pro) This can occur if you are editing media that is not supported in Final Cut Pro. This could include FLV, AVI, WMV or H.264 QuickTime movies. It could also include CMYK images or image files larger than 4000 pixels in width or height. Suggested Actions * Run Corrupt Clip Finder to locate corrupt or invalid clips. * If your sequence codec is set to a long-GOP codec such as HDV, H.264, XDCAM, AVCHD, MPEG-2, set it to ProRes. * For best results, convert long-GOP and non-QuickTime media such as AVI or WMV to ProRes. * Make sure all images
