My FCP project is uncompressed 10 bit SD and the file is DV. I can play the DV file in quicktime. It's possible that the file was exported from a different version of FCP / different OS. Any idea why I'm getting this error / how to get around it? thanks FCP 7.0 macbook pro mid 2008 OSX 10.6.8 Reply Quote derekmok Re: File error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown September 24, 2012 05:30AM Moderator Registered: 10 years ago Posts: 10,771 > It's possible that the file was exported from a different version of FCP / different OS. I'd find that highly unlikely. QuickTime files have stayed relatively constant throughout the years and even 10-year-old QuickTime files should import with no problems. (It'd be more likely to happen if the file was exported, say, from a PC) The codec should also be irrelevant, because usually a missing codec will result in the file importing successfully, but playing back as a blank screen. The error you're getting usually means a corruption of some kind, or an incomplete file (reference movie instead of self-contained, missing its source media). Try resaving or re-exporting the file through either Compressor or QuickTime Player. www.derekmok.com Reply Quote john Re: File error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown October 14, 2012 03:07PM Registered: 8 years ago Posts: 29 Thanks Derek Reply Quote Forum List Message List

I final cut pro really need to straighten this issue out because its slowing me down in my work. I have tried everything including deleting the .plist files for final cut, and repairing permisions.. next step if nobody here can help me is to reformat and put all my work on an external. Did you change the location of the jpg after you imported it into the sequence? If so, you may have to locate it again. share|improve this answer answered Aug 2 '13 at 7:15 Andrew Ng 23615 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote There are three reasons I can think of: The file is (as Andrew suggested) offline. The JPEG doesnt have a .jpeg extention (final cut has problems with files that are missing their extension) The JPEG resolution is too large. Try sizing the resolution down to under 2000x2000 share|improve this answer answered Nov 3 '13 at 23:01 OrangeBox 818513 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Nam
