But once I load in say 2 or 3 .mp4 clips fcp 7 general error out of memory into the canvas, it will say "General Error" and pretty much stop working. I have tried to clear the preferences, but I don't even have the com.apple. file needed to clear it in there. Also, I've imported numerous

The video seems to have to be transcoded in order for FCP to accept it (simply copying the video stream from one container to another does not work). In http://www.lafcpug.org/phorum/read.php?1,277803,277853 fact the the solution is really simple! I had the following sequence setting, when I first tried to render and the following error message came up: Wrong setting: SOLUTION: I've changed the final cut setting a little bit: H.264 to "Apple ProRes 422" - and that's it!!! Right setting: THAT'S ALL! If you want to know which ProRes codec is the best for your project, please have a look at http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio And if you don't know how to change the video settings of a sequence: Right click on it and choose "Settings"! Working on a project and was provided with a gazillion different codecs and still images. I keep getting General Error and Out of Memory error. It seems that my system is not liking the mp4's provided from stock footage houses for one thing. I am using FCP to transcode them and it seems to be a bit happier. The project file is only 25MB do it's not that issue. I can only guess that it is the multitude of codecs in one timeline that is making FCP not respond time and again. Are there other reasons this could be happening? Anyone have a link I can check out with regard the possible issues? Codecs include some PAL transcoded to 23.98 dv .mov h.264 mp4 jpg png tiff Currently replacing the H.264 and mp4 as mentioned Thanks! And that all images are in RGB, not CMYK mode. If any settings are aberrant, you need to make copies of the image files with modified settings. And yes, never edit with MP4s and H.264 files in FCP. www.derekmok.com Reply Quote TroyChristian Re: Out of Memory error May 01, 2012 03:14PM Registered: 10 years ago Posts: 302 as a matter of fact just found a pic that was too large - thanks Derek!!
