Need an outsider's perspective. Can't export from FCP to PDW-U1 or PDW-HD1500. Keep getting the "Export Failed Final Cut Pro: Error writing to file" when exporting from FCP via EXPORT, SONY XDCAM. Can transfer footage from both using XDCAM Transfer. XDCAM disc does appear on desktop. Reinstalled all drivers this morning. Here are the specifics: Final Cut 7.03 OSX Lion 10.7.2 1) PDZK P1 XDCAM Transfer 2 1 3 2) XDCAM Browser 200 3) SxS Drivers Mac Device v105 UDF v102 4) FAMDriver Mac V2 3 2 Installed in order listed. If you point the export to the desktop and try to manually drop the file into the /CLIP folder are you able to write to the disc? (Note that you may want to enable free naming on the deck before you do this test, otherwise the write will fail if the file doesn't have the the next available Cxxxx.mxf name...Set this in menu 36 on the deck and in the Utility App for the U-1). I don't think it's a setting (audio, codec etc) because of the 'Writing to File' message. Still, you should verify that your sequence is set to an XDHD codec and that the deck is s

The sequence in question is a DVCAM 525i. The audio is correct at 4 channels, the disc and camera are at the settings the program was shot, it is even the same disc with enough room to hold the FCP sequence. The audio had to be changed to 4 channel mono. I've also tried exporting a 1080p back to http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/sony-eng-efp-shoulder-mounts/467618-fcp-export-error.html the field disc with the camera setup in 1080i and get the same error. The F335 imports files fine. The XDCAM importer and exporter are version 2.8.0 The FCP version is 6.0.6 Any ideas what I'm missing? You are limited to Fat32's 4Gb file size restriction which is about 15 mins at 25Mb/s. Other things to check: Did you select MXF and not mp4 in the exporter? __________________ Alister Chapman, Film-Maker/Stormchaser http://www.xdcam-user.com/alisters-blog/ My XDCAM site and blog. http://www.hurricane-rig.com November 13th, 2009, 10:28 AM #3 Daniel Larson Regular Crew Join Date: Dec 2008 Location: De Pere, WI Posts: 47 Problem fixed I've got the FCP export of program sequences via XDCAM to F335 disc working. I downloaded the new version of Sony's XDCAM transfer, 2.10, and that made all the difference. I'm back in business. November 13th, 2009, 10:33 AM #4 Daniel Larson Regular Crew Join Date: Dec 2008 Location: De Pere, WI Posts: 47 The program is 14:47 in length. I didn't realize there was a limit to sequence lengths. I've got a few more programs to archive to disc and will have to break them up due to length. Not a big deal but good to know. Thanks for the tip. Dan DV Info Net r

It has one of the least http://win101.org/final-cut-pro-error-writing-to-file/ helpful warning dialogs and is frustratingly difficult to solve. However, I've learned that when a General Error occurs it is almost always related to a bad clip, or a bad render file, in your sequence. Maybe not always, but this should be the first place to check.General Errors most often relate to render problems; final cut either when you are rendering directly during editing, or rendering as part of an export. While there isn't a fast way to fix this, it can be fixed. Before you attempt to fix a General Error, it doesn't hurt to reset your system by doing a Safe Boot.NOTE: Here's an article that explains how to do a Safe Boot: Trouble-Shoot in Five StepsTHINGS TO CHECK1. While Final Cut final cut error SHOULD be able to work with video of different frame rates, it can often have problems when a clip with a faster frame rate (say, 30 fps) is put into a slower sequence (say, 23.98 fps). Disable clips with different frame rates and see if the General Error goes away when you render.NOTE: To disable a clip, select it and type Control+B. A clip changes color when it is disabled.2. It is possible that a specific render file became corrupted. This isn't your fault, every so often it just happens. Delete all render files and see if the error goes away.NOTE: To delete all render files associated with a track, turn off the green visibility light, located in the track header on the left of the Timeline, then turn it back on. This is just a quick click - click. If you don't turn the visibility light back on, all clips in that track become invisible.3. Sometimes clips downloaded from stock image houses are corrupted during the transfer. Disable any stock shots (select the clip and type Control+B) and re-render.4. If these first three suggestions don't work, you will need to get a bit more methodical by rendering your project in sections until you
