I've been in the AVID world for years, but just took the plunge (happily) into Final Cut. I've been working for a few weeks on a friends short with no problems at all. Today, after reviewing some content and making a few cuts, I got this dialogue box - Autosave: File Error: Unknown File. I've not captured any new media (working PAL 1080i 10 bit Uncompressed). I don't want to get heavily into a day's work if and risk not being able to save it. When I first saw this, I'd click OK and the box re-appeared 4 or 5 times before not showing up. I quit FC, shut down CalDigit, restarted and seemed to be working fine, then...same message. Trash prefs, or... Welcome to FCworld, Auto save error comes when FC believes it has no write privileges to that directory (although it has...) Always alright to check though. A restart usually fixes the problem on my mac however deleting prefs and do a repair in disc utility's is sometimes a necessity. Doing a "Save As" might fix your problem, however have not tried that myself yet. and: Thanks to Ken Stone that made this!: http://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/good_apps_gone_bad.html good luck! Had to resort to FCP Rescue, but all's well now. I'm sure you'll be hearing more from me... Final Cut Pro - Fire Error: Unknown File Hey guys, I am having an issue with saving in final cut pro, I get alot of work done, then after I want to save it, it says "File Error:unknown File" It only happens (so far) when working with DVCAM, and does not do this while working in any other format. I really need to straighten this issue out because its slowing me down in my work. I have tried everything including http://www.mac-forums.com/showthread.php?t=51880 deleting the .plist files for final cut, and repairing permisions.. next step if nobody here can help me is to reformat and put all my work on an external. I have attached a screen shot of my problem below, if anybody knows why this is happenening it would be greatly appricieated since I have no clue why. Did you change the location of the jpg after you imported it into the sequence? If so, you may have to locate it again. share|improve this answer answered Aug 2 '13 at 7:15 Andrew Ng 23615 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote There are three reasons I can think of: The file is (as Andrew suggested) offline. The JPEG doesnt have a .jpeg extention (final cut has problems with files that are missing their extension) The JPEG resolution is too large. Try sizing the resolution down to under 2000x2000 share|improve this answer answered Nov 3 '13 at 23:01 OrangeBox 818513 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service.
