It has one of the least helpful warning dialogs and is frustratingly difficult display unavailable final cut pro to solve. However, I've learned that when a General Error occurs it is almost always related to a bad clip, or a final cut 7 error out of memory bad render file, in your sequence. Maybe not always, but this should be the first place to check.General Errors most often relate to render problems; either when you are rendering directly during editing, or rendering as part

of an export. While there isn't a fast way to fix this, it can be fixed. Before you attempt to fix a General Error, it doesn't hurt to reset your system by doing a Safe Boot.NOTE: Here's an article that explains how to do a Safe Boot: Trouble-Shoot in Five StepsTHINGS TO CHECK1. While Final Cut SHOULD be able to work with video of different frame rates, it can often have problems when a java.sql.sqlexception: general error clip with a faster frame rate (say, 30 fps) is put into a slower sequence (say, 23.98 fps). Disable clips with different frame rates and see if the General Error goes away when you render.NOTE: To disable a clip, select it and type Control+B. A clip changes color when it is disabled.2. It is possible that a specific render file became corrupted. This isn't your fault, every so often it just happens. Delete all render files and see if the error goes away.NOTE: To delete all render files associated with a track, turn off the green visibility light, located in the track header on the left of the Timeline, then turn it back on. This is just a quick click - click. If you don't turn the visibility light back on, all clips in that track become invisible.3. Sometimes clips downloaded from stock image houses are corrupted during the transfer. Disable any stock shots (select the clip and type Control+B) and re-render.4. If these first three suggestions don't work, you will need to get a bit more methodical by rendering your project in sections until you finally isolate the clip(s) that is causing a problem. To render just a portion of your sequence, select roughly 10% of your clips and render. If that works, SAVE YOUR PROJECT, then render the n

It doesn’t happen enough for me to ever remember exactly what causes it. It could be several things but usually it’s because of a piece of corrupted media. Here are the steps I take when trying to tackle the Final Cut Pro General Error. See if it is happening during a render. To be safe clear out the Render Cache. Do this by going to Tools-> Render Manager. Find your sequence and check Remove next to your audio and video render files, then select Ok. Now when you re render your sequence don’t do it all at once, instead render it in small chucks. Do this
to work with .mov files from my nikkon, final cut pro gives me a general error after i've added a couple of clips to the timeline, it https://www.quora.com/How-to-fix-a-general-error-in-final-cut-pro-7 used to be no problem but I don't know how to solve the general http://gogo6969.com/2010/09/21/apple-final-cut-pro-general-error-out-of-memory-solved/ error... any help?UpdateCancelAnswer Wiki3 Answers David Baril, Editing, commercial DVD authoring, FCP 7 ex-userWritten 190w agoIf you absolutely want to keep using FCP 7, you are going to have to convert your footage to good old proRes beforehand. You can use FCP's media manager or Apple Compressor for that.I once edited a whole final cut project in FCP 7 using the native Canon 5D files and while it started well enough, it got more instable as the timeline filled and renders got glitches between edits.Using files straight from camera is ideal and works very well with Adobe Premiere or Final Cut X, and I highly recommend switching to one of those. You have to know FCP 7 is 32 bits, doesn't final cut pro support more than one CPU, and is no longer supported by Apple. Chances are, the latest version of FCP 7 is older than your camera and it will stay that way forever. And unless you are using a computer from 6 years ago, you are also waiting way longer than you have to for your renders.2.8k Views · View UpvotesRelated QuestionsMore Answers BelowWhich Macbook is best for Final Cut Pro?Final Cut Pro: Will Motion 4 be usable on a 13" MacBook Air?Final Cut Pro: How can I fix the error message "Codec not found" when attempting to render footage? Is being proficient with Final Cut Pro X enough to get a job? What is the future of final cut pro x? Ben Holmes, Professional FCP editor since 2001Written 191w agoWhilst the files from DSLRs are viewable in FCP7 (as they are generally QuickTime wrappers) the codec is not one that FCP7 supports. With Canon DSLRs there is a handy import plugin which converts the files to ProRes. I am not aware of a similar plugin for Nikon cameras, and Nikon themselves seem to advise using Compressor:https://nikoneurope-en.custhelp....However, Compressor 3.5 is a slow and occasionally uns
5870 Graphics Card! While rendering a project in Apple Final Cut Pro (FCP) I've got an error message… "General Error!" and then "Out of Memory!" ***WTF???*** Equipped with a brand new machine, I thought there must be another problem and did some research, but found nothing really helpful. In fact the the solution is really simple! I had the following sequence setting, when I first tried to render and the following error message came up: Wrong setting: SOLUTION: I've changed the setting a little bit: H.264 to "Apple ProRes 422" - and that's it!!! Right setting: THAT'S ALL! If you want to know which ProRes codec is the best for your project, please have a look at http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio And if you don't know how to change the video settings of a sequence: Right click on it and choose "Settings"! That's easy… ;-) If you want to see a pretty fast RAID 0 with 4 SSDs, please click on this link: http://gogo6969.com/2012/01/18/1770-mbs-mbps/ Related posts: ATI Radeon HD 4890 1GB ...
