Pro X << PREVIOUS • VIEW ALL • PRINT • NEXT >> • FCP X - Can't export my edit - Quicktime error -50 by Boris Jansch on Nov 30, 2011 at 7:55:40 pm This is another first for me. I've edited a 1 minute commercial, which is a mixture of unconverted Canon 5D and Sony F3 footage but I am unable to export my completed edit. If I go to export media or export using one of my custom settings it brings up the https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cmx_eHohUkA export bar and when it's about 90% done it brings up the error message, 'Quicktime error -50'. I don't have any problems exporting any other of my projects on the same drive so I suspect it's a corrupt media issue or perhaps an F3 issue but it plays perfectly in FCP X. I tried trashing prefs. Many thanks, Boris J.Return to posts https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/344/6046 indexReport Post •Re: FCP X - Can't export my edit - Quicktime error -50by Aaron Rock on Nov 30, 2011 at 9:33:34 pmCheck for corrupted media around 90% of the way through your cut. Generally this error relates to media QT is not dealing with correctly. I find FCPX to be strange with media playback, it may deal with the footage fine inside the program, but outputting it runs into an error. Try exporting the last half in 10 second segments, this should at least narrow down wherein the problem lies.Return to posts indexReport Post•Re: FCP X - Can't export my edit - Quicktime error -50by Jeremy Garchow on Dec 1, 2011 at 12:11:55 amI would delete the render files using the File menu.Return to posts indexReport Post•Re: FCP X - Can't export my edit - Quicktime error -50by James Ewart on Sep 9, 2014 at 5:19:46 pmNice that seems to work!!Return to posts indexReport Post•Re: FCP X - Can't export my edit - Quicktime error -50by John Brown on Feb 1, 2012 at 9:25:43 pmHi all, For what it's worth I thought
Share -> Send to Compressor option to render them within this application, Compressor would fail randomly during the process with a QuickTime Error -50. I couldn't really make sense of the error as it happened randomly, meaning sometime http://marcoghislanzoni.com/blog/2012/06/29/solved-apple-compressor-fails-with-quicktime-error-50/ the rendering would be successful, sometime not. It also appeared to be independent from the encoding parameters utilized. Tweaking with them did not help at all. Looking up on the Internet I found many others with the same problem, but http://www.lafcpug.org/phorum/read.php?19,274587,274589 none of the recommended solutions worked for me, so I had to look for my own! Long story short, here is what worked for me. Are you ready? Well the solution is: do not close Final Cut Pro X final cut after having issued the Send to Compressor command and switched to Compressor! Apparently Compressor needs Final Cut Pro X still up and running in the background in order to be able to render successfully. Folks with not enough RAM/CPU power may think to free up some memory by closing Final Cut Pro X once the Send the Compressor command has been issued (it was so for me, before I upgraded my Mac Book Pro to 8 GB of final cut pro RAM). Closing Final Cut Pro X while Compressor still has to render/encode the movie causes it to fail with the cryptic QuickTime Error -50. Since I have been leaving FCPX open in the background, Compressor never failed once! Hope this helps! Ciao! I want to get it on Vimeo and attempted to export out at that setting within FCP. Made it almost all the way through then it failed citing a "Quicktime Error-50." Tried what I presume to be a similar setting using compressor and it happened again. This was NOT happening with the trial version. I haven't added any new media to my project, just moving stuff around and finessing. Any ideas? I'm working with QT v.10.1 on a brand new iMac with a 27 ghz processor. Noticing that FCP X is pretty laggy on this system. Yet, supposedly, the specs are better than my 2007 macbook pro. Any thoughts?
